The New School Financial Aid

i’m going to be a sophomore at nyu this fall, and it’s recently come to my attention that i’m broke as **** and cannot afford it. despite the fact i get more grants and financial aid than anyone i know personally (i’m paying 11k a semester), no one in my entire family qualifies for loans of any kind, so basically i can’t afford this school anymore. i totally love it, but them’s the breaks.

however, i was wondering if anyone knows from experience if i’d have better luck with money at the new school. i know they’re notorious for being bad with grants and stuff, but so is nyu and i made out pretty reasonably. i figured since it was cheaper on the whole and my gpa is a 3.7 right now (and let’s be honest, it’s a downgrade) i’d be able to go for significantly less money a semester. is it worth the application fee to find out?

aside: i also wouldn’t be transferring to the new school solely for money, i’ve always had this secret love affair for the school, but i wouldn’t take the prestige cut for free, you feeel me?

Are you a NY resident? Consider the CUNYs/SUNYs?
