don’t know noah and allie, couldn’t remember jack and rose… do know rem and stimpy

Remember Robbie Benson and Ice Castles? Who didn’t try out for the talent show singing “Through the Eyes of Love”? It was epic for its time and I thought my heart just might break then poof . . . gone.

That takes me back to epic romance movie themes . . . My Heart Will Go On, Through the Eyes of Love, Born Free, The Rose, The Way We Were . . .

Nikki and Victor
Reba and Josh
Brooke and Ridge… and Taylor
Buffy and Angel… and Spike
Jack and Diane

I don’t know any of those, except I assume Jack and Diane is the John Cougar Mellencamp song.

As for Jack and Rose - my grandparents were (no kidding) Jack and Rose!

I couldn’t have come up with the Titanic characters on my own, though. I’d know Leo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, but I wouldn’t have immediately recognized Jack and Rose. Well, other than my grandparents, lol.

I know Kate & Ally, & Oliver & Jenny.
:)my H still has washboard abs, so ya gotta have something more than that for me to consider Gosling eye candy.

I hope they are still reading the classics in schools.
Several years ago, my daughters middle school class took a field trip to Shakespeare festival in Ashland, Oregon.
One of the plays they saw was a modern ( used a firearm) version of Romeo & Juliet.
My D was already familiar with the story as we had season tickets to the childrens theatre, and that had been a recent production, but her poor friend was quite shocked by the ending, blurting out, " She dies?"!

X_X

^Too funny. We saw Gluck’s opera version of Orpheus and were shocked when his wife didn’t die!

I had to look up Oliver and Jenny to find out that it’s Ali and Ryan. Maybe I’m just bad at characters’ names. Now that I think of it I know Holly Golightly and Annie Hall and that’s about it. I must have some neural deficiency . . . or rather, “difference”.

Scarlett and Rhett

Nick and Nora

Ralph and Alice and Ed and Trixie, Lucy and Ricky and Fred and Ethel, Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice, Laverne and Shirley and Lenny and Squiggy, Chrissy and Janet and Jack, Joanie and Chachi. . .

Tony and Maria!

Maria . . . I just kissed a girl named Maria . . .

I guess you have to turn the names into song lyrics for me to remember . . . which brings us to Danny and Sandy. “Sandy, can’t you see, I’m in misery . . . made a start, now we’re apart . . .”

“Snap out of it!”

What? You don’t like it when I break into song or is that another Moonstruck reference?

For a college app essay, I think a student should probably stick to couples from Shakespeare or Austen. :)

What? You don’t think Nicholas Cage transcends generational and gender boundaries? Is there anyone out there who DOESN’T love Nicholas Cage?

“I love you. Not like they told you love is, and I didn’t know this either. But love don’t make things nice, it ruins everything, it breaks your heart, it makes things a mess. We’re not here to make things perfect. Snowflakes are perfect. The stars are perfect. Not us. We are here to ruin ourselves and break our hearts and love the wrong people and die! The storybooks are ■■■■■■■■.”

Now THAT’S classic!

I like Nicholas Cage, but he sure has been in lots of terrible movies. “Con Air” is a guilty pleasure, though.

My son would say that’s the point. They are so epically bad that they’re good.

"I lost my hand! I lost my bride! Johnny has his hand! Johnny has his bride! You want me to take my heartache, put it away and forget? "

“This is the most tormented man I have ever known. I’m in love with this man, but he doesn’t know that, 'cause I never told him, 'cause he could never love anybody since he lost his hand and his girl.”

Love this movie! One of my courtship films with DH.
