I am trying to transfer to for Fall of 2016 where I will be a sophomore. I was in the top 10% of my high school class with a 3.8 GPA, I’ve had a great fall semester at my current state school, and have mediocre (range 27-30) ACT scores. What are my chances for getting in to a private college like Rice, Vanderbilt, or Wake Forest? I’m an engineering major as well.
Also any tips for transfer?
I can’t give you chances but by looking at the reported statistics, your test scores are in the bottom 25% of admitted students for Rice and Vanderbilt and in the low part of the middle 50% for Wake Forest. You are possibly a better match for some of the smaller AITU schools like my university, Illinois Tech.
You can’t major in any type of engineering at Wake. There are some 3-2 programs but that sounds like a lot of complexity when you combine it with the fact that you’re already transferring.
I am going echo others and add maybe you should choose some schools notable for engineering if looking for well known names why not Cornell or Carnegie Mellon? I think you would have a chance at these schools also if money isn’t a option that opens more schools seeing how transfers supposedly don’t get alot aid
Thanks guys! I ended up getting into Wake.
