High school grades were pathetic, but like I noted in my essays, I did not take high school seriously. I have since discovered what it means to value an education and I hope that it shows in my GPA.

What do you think?
What I am insecure about is the fact that I have not yet taken Calculus or a Foreign Language. Am I over-thinking it, or is this important?

A quick question, but how badly are my chances going to be affected if I am OOS (from an international school but is a US citizen) and don’t fulfill the a-g requirements by 1 unit of history and 1 unit of art? I’m a bit confused because our school doesn’t follow the a-g system. I’ve taken a summer political science course at Cal of 4 units along with extracurricular art classes in order to remedy this situation, but I wasn’t told whether or not this will help because my application told me that I was still missing the two units.

Anandc, from the UC website:

Hence, don’t worry about your freshman grades.

@nckureghian14

“I am a California resident that goes to a highly competitive Catholic High School with a cap on AP’s. I would like to major in Electrical Engineering, but will probably apply Undecided in order to increase my chances.”

Applying undecided won’t increase your chances. At Berkeley, both EE and Undecided are equally difficult. In fact, Undecided Engineering might be a tad harder.

^ have above avg essays and you’re in

UW GPA: 3.97

Out of state

SAT: 1990

Civil Air Patrol, Museum volunteer, internships at aerospace companies

I also hold a Private Pilots License, if that counts for anything. Any ideas? I know my scores are on the way low end, and I really don’t expect to get in.

From what ive seen @CarbonCocoa, UCB is a lot harder to get into if your OOS and given that your scores wont distinguish you, you probably dont stand a great chance. Unless, of course, your 3.97 is in a ridiculously difficult courseload

I did not get the borderline supplement from either UCB or UCLA… (at least not yet.)

Applied under Computer Science in L&S at Berkeley and Computer Engineering at UCLA.
Am I screwed?
