Man, I’m not even taking any programming classes this quarter. I miss it.

first the code now the proof… loving it…

someone please save me from data structures with c++ eek

Data structures had the potential to be a fun class. My class was terrible. It was the absolute hardest class I’ve ever taken, mainly due to having a new teacher that did not understand proper pacing. It was like “Red Black Trees today…Hash tables tomorrow!” I came out of it with an ‘A’, but that grade was the product of loads of unnecessary stress and weekly programming assignments that took 10 hours each. With that said…I’ve been through it, so feel free to PM me with any questions.

Your class probably won’t be nearly as tough as that. I just felt like sharing my story, haha.

arcade//
right now im on break so everything is cool but if i get into problem i will pm you
ty

I heard anthropologists are turd burglars.

Andy Kauffman says what? :P

@arcade We didn’t even get into hash tables. We only went as far as B-Trees. In my applied discrete math class we are “surveying” hash tables.

Andy Kaufman says you burgle turds, sis.

EmpathyInAnarchy: You’re lucky man, haha. We probably got through binary trees within the first couple of weeks. I’m on the quarter system too (at a UC), so we went at an EVEN FREAKING FASTER pace. And it’s not like he didn’t expect mastery. He did. The programming assignments were insanely hard. In fact, I bet it was one of the hardest classes offered at any UC ever. With that said, I feel pretty cool that I got through it.

Beware of new teachers.

^ Wow, that’s intense. We covered the STL and everything too though, so that might be partly why we stopped at B-Trees.

I usually love really difficult classes though. I’m pretty weird. And I forgot you attend a UC now! That’s why there’s such a glaring disparity between our difficulty levels!

hmm…wonder where i fall in this debate as a bioengineering and econ double major, i feel torn :

It’s not really stealing when the turds are 6000 years old… is it?

bro- ur still bitter cuz one of us Team Anthro did u wrong.
awww group anthro hug for EmpathyInAnarchy.

@ lomkh. Bioengineering and econ… thats interesting pair of majors. ARe you premed?

int usefulness;
int major;
enum blah {useless=1, important, dgaf};
bool hi=false;
for(int i =0;!hi;i++){
cout<<“1)Anthro
2)engineering
3)other”;
cin>>major;
blah major;
switch(major){
case useless:
cout<<“stupid…go do engineering”;
usefulness -=1;
break;
case important:
cout<<“you make the world a better place”;
usefulness+=1;
break;
case dgaf:
cout<<“dont give a f \0 uck”;
case default:
major = 1;
break;
if(usefulness==0)
hi = true;
}

//i wonder how many of you caught what i did with the default case in the switch statement. hahaha

my turn at a crappy program… I assure you this program is completely unbiased and provides a balanced and correct answer after carefully weighing all the factors (or it just reads an assigned statement that I made up based on your input… who knows
).

include <iostream></iostream>

using namespace std;
int main()
{
char major;
cout << " Input major (A for anthropology, E for engineering) " ;
cin >> major;
switch (major)
{
case ‘A’ :
case ‘a’ : cout << “sorry Anthro < Engineering” << endl ;
break;
case ‘E’ :
case ‘e’ : cout << “high five! you made the right choice :D” << endl ;
break;
}
system(“pause”);
}

it’s been a long time since I wrote any code.

^^
you couldve done
case ‘A’:
case ‘a’:
break;
case ‘E’:
case ‘e’:
break;
:)

ps. i like how everyone is avoiding using string classes.

UCEric: You know you’re a nerd when you waste time error checking the user in code written for a forum.

I’m referring to your check for them entering a lower case letter instead of upper case, haha.
Only joking with you of course.
