The Official Fall 2014 UCLA Transfer Decisions Thread

Well, philosophy is a part of the humanities, so sure, I’m down @onehandedred.

We can contemplate what we’ll do with our useless degrees after graduation in our fancy new dorms.

If you can’t get that housing application working soon, you might want to contact UCLA’s technical support or something.

@Cayton Nice! I’m thinking about a philosophy minor because I’m interested in a couple history of philosophy classes. You can help me lol. Also, you ever hear about a guy named Perry Anderson? Probably the most important marxist thinker since the 60’s revival. He teaches some survey Marxism courses that I think you should definitely definitely consider if you’re interested in Marxism.

@onehandedred‌

Just looked him up. Maybe we can take one of his classes together in the fall quarter at UCLA with him :D

I don’t know too much about marxism(I mean, I know about it more than the average person, but I’m not an expert in it :P) but I’d love to study it with him.

@Cayton Yeah man! He’s one of the professors I want to do research under haha… oh god I need to network

@onehandedred‌

lol, plans for grad school? Good luck!

Oh, and when the housing application starts to work for you, it’ll give you the option of stating if you have any students whom you wish to dorm with. Just shoot me a PM with your name and UCLA ID and I’ll do the same for you.

As for networking, you’ll have plenty of time to do that at UCLA. I think you’ll be fine!

Anyone going to PILOT day? It seems very similar to Bruin Transfer Day

Sorry for the late post!

Anyone going to transfer day on May 10th??

Attending

@cjburton23‌

I’ll be going.

I’ll be going to Berkeley’s Transfer Day instead :stuck_out_tongue:

I went up there thursday night and all day friday, such an awesome campus, ill be there May 10th for sure

So EXCITED!! just submitted my SIR and SLR!! Go BRUINS :smiley:

Guys im really torn between ucla and berkeley. If I wait t do the housing app for ucla/berkeley how screwed will i be? I just dont know if ill be cetain where im going until the middle of may.

@nichtszumachen i felt the same way but i just went and visited Berkeley yesterday (i’m from L.A. area so it was a spontaneous trip) but i instantly new Berkeley wasn’t the place for me. My advice – if you haven’t already, visit each campus thoroughly and ask yourself if you could see yourself going there. As far as the housing, as long as you decide by June 1st you’ll be okay

@cjburton23‌

Why wasn’t Berkeley the place for you? I know that a lot of us socal residents are turned off by the weather there, lol.

Thank you @cjburton23 I will be visiting berkeley next weekend and going to ucla’s transfer day. I’m a political science/international relations major, and you?

@Cayton yo I’ll be there on the 9th and the 10th for PILOT and the Transfer day too! let’s hang out dude
