The Official Fall 2014 UCLA Transfer Decisions Thread

@goodjobdaveman, you don’t get a choice. I specifically asked the housing people and they use a random lottery to decide everyone’s place on the list. Once you’re up, they go by preferences so if your #1 isn’t available they’ll see if #2 is and so on. Of course if it is available you get it. But it’s not like they give you a couple of options to choose from.

Are cats allowed in any of the types of housing?

@collegedropout, I’ve got a dog, cat, and 2 turtles that I’m assuming I can’t bring : /

I’m shooting for a single or double, but if that doesn’t work out then I’m looking for an apartment. The apartments near the school (such as landfair) seems somewhat reasonable.

@Zalrons, If I can’t bring my cat, then I am just going to live off campus.

But if I do sprouse hall, for example, I won’t be with freshman, right?? And it doesn’t matter when we submit the housing app as long as it’s before June 1?

I saw this video about the transfer themed housing if anyone was interested. It’s located in De Neve Gardenia and I think the rooms are slightly bigger than the residence hall rooms. Seems like it would be a nice environment for transfers.

@CollegeDropout1 goddamn it your cat’s so cute. Can I come over? not even kidding, cause I need my animal therapy

I’m probably looking to live in a sorority house

Just a quick question, I am about to order some of my Official Transcripts. Do I mail it to them, or do I have the school do it? Only reason I ask, is because, I went to four different CC’s, I do not want thing to get lost. I would rather just have all of them, and send them myself. Pretty sure, it is okay for me to send it to them, just want to make sure.

The school has to mail them. Otherwise it can be tampered with and considered unofficial. But if the envelope is sealed and stamped, it’s probably good. I’ve heard people sending it themselves so they can include supplementary materials. @Tik1127

@onehandedred‌

Thanks. Hmm, not sure what to do, I am thinking about contacting them, but it says it can 3-5 business days for them to get back to me… What to do, what to do…

Calling them is better

Yeah, I did, gotta call back between 1-4.

@onehandedred hahaha Alright, but he can be mean sometimes.

Has anyone mailed an academic department at UCLA? I emailed the statistics department last wednesday, and they have not responded. The math and international studies department emailed me back very quickly. This seems strange. Are they ignoring my emails?

I e-mailed the Linguistics department undergradauate advisor and it was a few weeks before I heard back but once I did, everything I had included in the email was addressed.

@Tik1127 I contacted regarding this same thing. I told them I had transcripts for the schools I had attended and if they would accept them me sending the ones I had. They said that the school had to send it directly to UCLA in a sealed envelope.

I was very disappointed by this as they also want records from a university I attended abroad so that’s going to be a pain in the ass to get.

@RamonaFalls‌

Well, that is a pain in the ass. I always send important information as certified mail, to make sure they got it. Well, that is just peachy isn’t?

@RamonaFalls‌ Not to be nosey - but what kind of info did you get? I’ve read the courses are very demanding and rigorous, but the professors and faculty seem amazing.
