The Official Fall 2014 UCLA Transfer Decisions Thread

Found it! Thanks

Thanks for your good wishes @Cayton. I’d like to think that after two years at UC I will have some sort of future game plan that will inform if grad school is a good option.

I think you’re right @oongaboonga. It’s really unfortunate how the job market drives education. I hope you are able to pursue whatever it is that you are interested in, be in environmental psychology or something else.

I have also heard time and time again that academic inflation is rendering many bachelor’s degrees as useless, and that the only real hope is to take the plunge into graduate school. That sounds lovely! I think it would be cool to teach at the CC level, perhaps because going to CC changed a lot for me so I am really grateful for the many that helped me become the person I am now. I don’t know, I in no way see grad school as a plan B, but I don’t really have a plan A either… its more like, lets see how things go and we will come up with a plan as things go along plan. Probably not too efficient but it seems to be working.

Does anyone know if we need to send 1 or 2 transcripts? On my academic contract it says for a transcript of all my coursework (except summer) by 7/15/2014, but on the next steps checklist it says I need transcript of all work done by Fall 2013. (http://www.admission.ucla.edu/NewBruins/Offl_Rec_Transfer.htm</a>)

You need to send 1 transcript for all coursework thru Fall 2013. That one is due by June 1. Then they need another transcript with all of you courses thru Spring 2014. That one is due July 15. @2014drew‌

I missed the Transfer Bruin Day last Saturday :frowning:
How was it?

Procrastinating on studying for finals, I crunched some numbers for me to graduate. According to my rough estimate I am coming in with 105 units, but I still have 126 units to complete in order to graduate. However, with UCLA capping at 216 units…am I doomed? I’m assuming that they have calculated that I do have a chance at graduating right? Tried running DARS and none of my information is there so it was kind of useless.

where the hell are you getting 126 units from? That’ll take like 3 and a half years

@onehandedred Yea it does seem like a lot. I realized I added in ge courses which I don’t need too, considering I can fulfil those requirements with igetc. I still have like 112 units to look forward to and still puts me over one unit. Oh well figure this out during orientation.

You only need 180 quarter units to graduate from UCLA…Most transfer kids come in with 60-70 units, so that translates into 90-105 units

remember to do your semester/quarter unit conversions!

Does anyone know if I take summer classes that articulate (according to assist) if they get transferred over too?
http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/transfer_credit/trcrss.htm</a></p>

I need a few math classes for a major I want to switch to and if they get transferred over as unit credit I’d rather just get them over with and pass (with Cs) then to take them at UCLA

Where is everyone? It seems like only a fraction of the people that were originally on here are still posting.

@Collegedropout1 maybe people have finals? Idk though my finals arent till june

Has anyone bought any ucla gear? Im checking there online store $55 for a hoodie damm!

@Sonic23 Yeah, UCLA sweaters are very expensive. I when to transfer raza day and they gave me a coupon for 20 percent off, too bad it expires tomorrow. It would have made the sweater 44 dollars.

The board becomes kind of dead after decisions are all out. It’ll start picking up again when the next application cycle starts.

@collegedropout1 ugh give me your coupon lol!!

Wow, I can’t believe I am about to say this, but the process of applying to UCLA was actually more exciting than the idea of going there.

@Sonic23 HAHAHA, It actually expired the 12th, and I got it on the 10th. It was only good for 2 days

@collegedropout1 lmao! It was nerve recking but fun, I’m sure once schools about to start it will be fun again, and nerve recking. I’m actually excited for orientation. Do you know which session you want?
And
U didn’t use it? I’m glad I didn’t get one though good deals mess with my mind. I’m that person who comes out the grocery store with 50 power aids because they were on sale lol

@Sonic23 I didn’t find out UCLA had given me one until I got home, they put it in my “Free Stuff Bag”. I am probably going to get the latest orientation since I still have to finish some prerequisites at my community college over the summer in order to change my major. I am really just buying time.

I got my UCLA sweater on Bruin Day. Kind of expensive($55), but well worth it.
