The Official Fall 2014 UCLA Transfer Decisions Thread

They called me at 8:50 PM for that… I was surprised they still had people calling that late.

When are financial aid documents due? Has everyone turned in their documents already?

@Cayton‌ - What documents are you talking about?

@2016Candles‌

Verification form.

What’s the verification form?

@2016Candles‌

It’s something you fill out to verify parental income and all that other stuff.

Oh I guess because I’m an old lady, I don’t have that :-)

Hey Candles, so you’re a non-trad too I see. If you have a moment, please share your story. Why are you heading to college later in life? I could use some inspiration from another non-trad headed to UCLA. See you there next Fall…I hope. :)

My story isn’t all that interesting. I took a few CCC classes after HS. I ended up with an A,B,C,F, F(from 2 classes I signed up for but never bother attending).

I got a job, worked my way up, and turned it into a career. After some years I wanted to do something different, but found that without a degree my options were limited. I could make good money, but I’m bored out of my mind.

In the summer 2012, I decided to take some CCC classes that fall. I really didn’t start with the intention of transferring or even getting an AA, but that’s what happened. Once I started I found that I could balance work/ school/ life better than I thought.

I learned early on that the counselors at CCC we’re not the best source of info and found this website, and the people on here have helped me tons. I finished my AA in December 2013. I took classes at a CSU this semester because it didn’t want to waste time, so now I have 15 upper division units already completed.

I plan to get my Masters right after I finish. I’m debating between Program Administration, Public Policy, and Urban Planning. I’m currently a Sociology major BTW.

So that’s my story.

Well, I thought it was interesting. Thanks for sharing. :slight_smile: Good to hear to got hooked on achieving more for yourself and glad you’re shooting for graduate work. It’s a shame the UG doesn’t go as far as it used to. I’m off to law school myself after UG, so hopefully it works out on my end as well.

Take care and good luck!

Where can I find the Education Planner on MyUCLA? It says we have to fill it out before we sign up for orientation on June 5th.

^^^ It’s all the way to the far right side of the screen.

@ Cayton where can we get the financial aid verification form?when is it due? and are there any other forms to fill out for financial aid?

@Peanut0‌

They email you about it if they need it. I don’t know when it’s due, as I’m trying to figure that out myself, and UCLA will tell you if there are other forms to fill out.

hmm that’s weird that they haven’t contacted me. My community college has always pestered me about it so I’m wondering why they haven’t lol. I guess I’ll just call the financial aid office. Thanks for the help!

Just wondering, anybody else apply to USC? I did, just curious to see their response.

USC??? You mean the school that is, on its best day tied with UCLA on it’s worst day academically, at 3.5 times the money, that is located in the middle of the hood?? That USC??

Ummmm that would be a no for me :-)

@2016Candles‌

Unlike my fellow bruins, I believe that USC is headed for greatness. It’s risen through the rankings over the past few decades, from being in the #40s-#50s range to being #23 this year. If it continues at this pace, it may be able to compete with the Ivy Leagues and Stanford.

It’d be pretty cool to have an academic rivalry with a school of that caliber that would be akin to the one between UC Berkeley and Stanford, but in southern California.

US News panders to privates with $$$. It’s going to take awhile for USC’s reputation to surpass UCLA but it could happen someday. My friend graduated from USC and she got a sick job with those strong alumni connections.

Anyways, I’m all done with finals! I’m not going to get rescinded for a 3.5 my last semester, right? I have no idea what maintain “the” GPA means.

@Zalrons‌

I very strongly doubt you’ll get rescinded.
