The Official Fall 2014 UCLA Transfer Decisions Thread

Hey @sonic24 and others - did you see the UCLA registrar of classes? My daughter just found it. Not only is it the current class schedules, but it lists last spring and winter, and most importantly, the # enrolled, enrollment caps, # on Waitlist, Waitlist caps, etc. it’s a great strategy source to see how full the classes were and how often they’re being offered. They also have winter 2015 and spring 2015 tentatives.

http://www.registrar.ucla.edu/schedule/schedulehome.aspx

@lindyk8 found it a while back been stalking it. finding back up classes to my backups. :slight_smile:
I really like the way it is set up, I heard for big classes you have to make sure to sign up for the TA group discussions asap, or you may get stuck with a time you don’t want. Also different TAs are more lenient than others. (been reading this online)
also don’t forget to check out bruin walk for ratings on teachers. I am loving it compared to rate my professor site.
Students are so specific and give legit reason to not like a teacher, very detailed.

@sonic23‌ , My daughter’s been stalking bruin walk too. But how do you figure out what TA is leading what group, do you know? I remember my days in college. TAs always worse than the profs, not all of them, but most, lol.

@lindyk8 thats the thing I don’t know how to check they just say the discussion section number but not who it is led by, but yea on bruin walk Ive been reading tons of reviews about the TAs and how a lot depends on them. They have too much power lol, in a sense it seems getting a bad TA could be as difficult as having a bad TA.

@sonic23, Having a bad TA can wreck havoc on your GPA. Are you on the FB page? You could probably ask about recommended TAs in various subjects, and if there’s a way to figure out how to get them… Not a bad idea. Then maybe if you don’t have a good one you can switch out first week? (Actually PM the person who seems to know everything so he doesn’t blab the strategy to everyone on the FB page - or they’ll all be doing it.)

@lindyk8 I made a FB just to lurk the transfer page a bit, haven’t posted yet but I might just start

SOME of the discussions have a name shown for the TA but not all. Hopefully by the time we can actually register more names will be added in.

Some majors have their own FB page. People have been chatting about courses and instructors and the current students have been extremely helpful.

I made my dream schedule the other day. Now I need to work on schedules B and C.

Anyone know how to make a housing payment? I’m trying to pay my first payment due by 6/24/14 but the only thing that is showing up in my BruinBill is my summer course fees.

@k4201505 you’ll get an email from housing telling you when the charge has been posted to your account

Major FB pages! Thx @2016Candles‌

I have a chance to get a double in Gardenia, but it wouldn’t be in the Transfer thing. I got assigned to a triple, IDK if it is worth considering.

I was trying to submit my CAR, but under the drop box selection, the only choice was “triple” anyone know why?

Is it alright if we get out IGETC certification noted when we send in our final transcript? My CC messed up and gave me partial certification even though I had everything done, so I had to go back and give them my HS transcript even though I already had before (magically disappeared).

I know the UCs are pretty stingy about this kind of stuff.

I decided to not attend orientation and was given August 20th as my enrollment date. Anyone else get an earlier date?

@Burntcorpse thats a good date considering you will be enrolling before some orientation dates in sept.

Hey, all, I just found an interesting blog by UCLA students about what to expect at UCLA. Maybe you’ve seen it. Here it is:
http://blog.admissions.ucla.edu

@lindyk8‌

I’ve seen that blog before. It’s an interesting insight into the life of typical college students at UCLA.

How’s the part and social scene at UCLA?

@CollegeDropout1‌

I’ve heard it’s good, not on quite on the level of UCSB.

@Cayton‌

Is it too late to change my SIR? I want to go to UCSB now
