The Official Fall 2014 UCLA Transfer Decisions Thread

@BurntCorpse Did you decline UCSB’s admission offer? If yes, then it is too late. You were going to UCLA, right?

@CollegeDropout1 may be right, @BurntCorpse.

You might just be stuck with UCLA, lol

@Cayton HAHAHA, I love how you phrased your response!

@BurntCorpse Did you want to go to Santa Barbara because of the parties?

@collegedropout1

Yes…and because it’s literally on the beach. I didn’t even bother looking up where the campus is since I was hellbent on going to UCLA.

You’re a bit too late to change your choice. Of course you could call them up and see what they say but they did give you a month minimum to research and decide, more than 2 if you got your admission in March.

If you selected the financial aid payment option, do you have to make the initial payment? Or is that waived?

@CollegeDropout1‌

I don’t think they’re going to give you financial aid until the Fall, and the payment is due June 20 something, so I think you have to pay it yourself.

If I major in physics, will I know enough to make a nuclear weapon?

@CollegeDropout1‌

I’ve heard that it is insanely easy to make a nuclear device, but the problem lies in programming it and gathering the material needed to make it.

Weapons grade plutonium is impossible to get. If you can get that, everything else should be smooth sailing since the knowledge and expertise required to get plutonium would require a crap ton of money and above average intelligence. Good luck trying to evade the authorities as well. The US intelligence community’s reach and influence influence is other-worldy.

Great, now I’m on a list…

@CSB111‌ Why you are major in pre-biz econ? Is that because you have not complete the pre-major requirements? I didnt see any cc course articulated econ 11 tho…

@HweiDtc You have to take Econ 11 and Econ 101 at UCLA, and get a 3.5 in both to declare the major. If I’m not able to do this I’ll be doing Math/Econ instead.

lol, we’ve beaten last year’s UCLA decision thread by more than 20 pages.

@Cayton What is weird is that UCSD’s thread has more views than UCLA’s, but less comments.

@CollegeDropout1‌

I noticed that, too. To be fair, that thread was created before I created this one, and UCSD’s way of releasing admissions decisions in batches probably contributed to the higher number of page views.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that fiasco admissions rollout/housing trick over on UCSD. It seems like a million years ago.

delete post

Would anyone happen to know when the deadline is to accept the loans offered on the UCLA Provisional Financial Aid Awards? Its currently listing me for off campus housing but I plan to live on campus (will this change my aid dramatically?) Appreciate any help

There appears to be a new app, that Bruin Walk is calling the Bruin Guide for Transfers.

Just saw it: Meh…

It is amazing how many people on this thread are going to get useless degrees. It is also maddening that they are going to leave the bill to the tax payer. This wouldn’t happen prior to the 1960’s.
