The Official Fall 2014 UCLA Transfer Decisions Thread

Basically people who live on campus are not allowed to park on campus. The exemption allows you to park on campus - yiu are essentially exempted from the no parking rule. It has nothing to do with parking fees.

Is anyone else on here planning on using adderall to study? I think I may have an attention deficit problem, but I don’t know how to approach my doctor about it.

Just ask them lol

What’s a former Bruin, new Triton doing here in this topic!?

@CollegeDropout1‌

It may be tempting to use Adderall to facilitate your studies, but unless you have been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD from a doctor, it would be unethical to use it.

@Cayton I don’t see how it would be unethical to use it. It is available to everyone, just that not every person chooses to use it. I am still learning, adderal just makes it easier.

@CollegeDropout1‌

It’s not available to everyone. Even if it were, many students choose not to use it. However, some do, and this puts them at an unfair advantage because of it. Many would prefer to study for their classes in the traditional way. They shouldn’t have to put in so much effort to do well in their classes while others use drugs to succeed.

Adderall usage also makes one’s classes substantially easier, and probably contributes to the undermining of the bachelor’s degree. It’s imprudent and in no one’s best interest to use this drug to get good grades if they don’t have ADD/ADHD.

Collegedropout1, you need an official diagnosis. They perform certain tests, I think by a psychiatrist.

You sound more bipolar to me. :smiley: jk…

@lindyk8‌ 99.9% the diagnosis would be generalized anxiety disorder

I’m pretty sure he has Can’t Make Up my Freakin Mind Syndrome. It’s characterized by perpetual indecision, coupled with an acute fear of ‘what will I do with the rest of my life’. The only know cure is making a decision, and then living your life :smiley:

I think you’re right @calbro!! 8-X

@lindyk8 Bipolar? I’m just indecisive

@2016Candles‌ Well, I made a decision, didn’t I? :smiley: But I guess I am still surprised that my journey took me here. I’m really relieved right now. This took a bunch of weight off my shoulders.

EDIT: You may still want to go to a psychologist to get checked up, @CollegeDropout1‌ .

@Calbro Haha, to be honest, subconsciously, I knew I was going to San Diego. I was just putting this off until the last possible day because of two reasons. The first reason was that I wanted to get as much of the first year student at UCLA experience. I really wanted to go there since I was young, but I knew it would not be a good fit for me because of my major. The second reason is that I like possibilities, to me, they are exciting. Delaying my choice meant that my journey would still not end, so I took my time. I’m sad to see this journey end, and I would have still been sad if I picked UCLA. Besides, the only way this negatively impacts my life is when I am at the candy store deciding what type of chocolate bar to buy. This is really a bittersweet moment for me!

I just saw that I got into the College Honors program. I don’t know if that does anything though.

Not sure if you get these emails that they send to the UCLA Parents. Here’s a video kick-off for the upcoming UCLA Centennial. They’re spending 4.2 billion on it so you’ll be in the thick of pre-centennial fever:
<a href=“'Reflections and Projections' campaign kick-off video | UCLA”>http://newsroom.ucla.edu/stories/reflections-and-projections-campaign-kick-off-video

@lindyk8‌

Definitely didn’t get that email. I’ve seen the progress UCLA’s making with raising that money and they’re close to meeting their goals in almost all areas they’re receiving donations in. UCLA’s got some pretty wealthy alumni.

Also, did anyone else who’s going to live on campus get mail from a store that seems to be affiliated with UCLA? They’re selling value packs that include comforters, bed sheets, shower caddies, etc. They’re pretty expensive and it seems like a ripoff to me.

@cayton, I just asked my daughter. She said she got it and the stuff was butt ugly. We actually got her some bath towels that were 40% off at Cost Plus. They were really reasonable before the discount.

BTW, UCLA has shipping services for those farther away and they will store and deliver your boxes to your room the day you move in. I think we’re going to do that instead of drive from bay area.

Does anyone know if you can submit a change of housing request still? I’m not sure if I really want to be in the Transfer Experience to be honest.

EDIT: You can, but I guess what I meant to ask is if you can decline the change of housing offer? Or are you stuck with it?
