The Official Fall 2014 UCLA Transfer Decisions Thread

I know you mentioned this @cayton, but UCLA is the place of the first computer to computer communication. While writing “login,” it crashed after the l and o, so the first word ever transmitted was “lo”. Here are photos from the actual transmission:

I :heart: UCLA!
lo

I’m pretty excited to be a Bruin :smiley:

Does anyone know if UCLA can send a collection agency after me? I signed up for the housing thing, but I still owe money to them because I didn’t make the initial payment?

@2016Candles I still don’t know how I got in, but I’m really excited. I’d be wearing my UCLA hoodie right now if it wasn’t hot as hell outside.

guys I’m forever on instagram and I #studentloans, because I’m weird and a picture came up with someone holding a sign saying:

“Student loan paid faithfully for 23 years:
Borrowed: $26,400
Paid back to date: $32,700
Still owe: $45,276.63”

I called B.S on it until I started to wonder if that were possible? I mean can interest really be that bad???

@sonic23‌
That’s why I bought Tshirts!!

@Sonic23 Yeah, that does seem weird. The interest would have to have been really high.

Student loans can get bad if you ignore them, or pay very little. If you pay what you can from the beginning, then as your salary increases, increase your payments accordingly, you can get them paid off.

People take out more money for car loans and they get paid off in 5 years or less. Priorities :-)

@2016candles lol i bought a few but seriously keep forgetting i have them!
my teacher used the car think too, and it opened up my eyes to not be as scared to get loans. I mean if I can pay a fat bill for my car why not my education? lol

@collegedropout1 I think the person may have taken out too many private loans, i hear those should be taken out carefully

Question: I know you have to get 70% or better for AlcoholEdu, but is it the same for Haven as well? Finished the former about a week ago and just finished Haven but there wasn’t a final exam–just some “post-course quiz” they usually have for Alcohol so I didn’t even answer and skipped it. Now I’m kinda worried I was supposed to take it. Input?

@lindyk8‌

Ah. Reviews of the products the stores offer that I saw on college confidential from previous years weren’t too good. I’ll go get the essential stuff somewhere else where it’s better and cheaper.

And yeah, a lot of historic firsts at UCLA. The school was also where AIDS was first diagnosed(Specifically, at the university’s hospital).

@sonic23‌

That person probably took out a ton of private loans. Those should be dealt with carefully and prudentially.

■■■■ guys, I need to send my igetc certification. I sent my spring transcripts and all but that was before I got my certification. Also, my AP score is taking forever to get there. Anyone else having problems?

@2016Candles‌ does this mean you chose UCLA?

I’m a proud Bruin parent. I have to be honest. Although I went to Berkeley, loved it, and am very proud of my alma mater, I never felt that real intense rah rah thing the way I do about UCLA. :heart:

@collegedropout1, you chose UCSD, right? Why would UCLA come after you? You’ll probably just lose your deposit. And if for some reason you are at UCLA (?) you’ll just lose the housing and deposit.

I hope this doesn’t indicate how you plan to live the next couple of years, lurching from one crisis to another. I can’t tell if all this is just a game, or real.

@sonic23‌ that appears to be a joke.

Hey, any of you guys seeing the UCLA store on every page on your computer, iphone and ipad? I bought my daughter some stuff about two months ago online and now an ad for the UCLA store with pictures of their sweatshirts is on every page, everyday, for the last two months.

@lindyk8‌

I thought I was the only one seeing incessant advertising from the UCLA store. You google UCLA apparel once and they never let it go…

They really have a handle on PR. :D/

@lindyk8‌
I’m 98% sure that I’m going to be at UCLA. I still have to go to orientation (August 1) to make sure that it doesn’t put me backwards. But I’m confident it will work.

@Cayton for the store ads, is this a postal mail you r talking about or an email?

@TT4UCOSBEL‌

Website ads. No emails or anything like that.

Yeah, their webstore shows up on most of the ads on my mobile.

@2016Candles‌ my daughter’s going to be at the Aug 1 orientation, too!
