This question may have been asked before but how do I go about figuring out which textbooks I need for certain classes?

@CollegeDropout1 Initially I felt the same way when the summer started, but honestly I’m enjoying this little break and dread going to school. Cause I figured out this is probably one last true break before I graduate from UCLA, so I am enjoying it as much as I can.

@Jonjon03 go to ucla store under textbooks they have a drop down menu with classes and books needed. I purchased 2 so fat only because they were under $5. Im waiting for the others.

I usually rent textbooks but i think i may spend a little extra to buy used books instead since now it will be mostly books for my major. Idk tho renting is so cheap!!

On the bookstore website there’s a place to put in your student ID # and it will pull up all the books you need for the classes you’re registered for.

You log into the bookstore the same way you log into my.UCLA.

Thanks @2016Candles @Cayton@sonic23 , didn’t realize it was that simple. However, I couldn’t seem to find where I can input the student ID # to pull up books automatically. I was able to log on and manually search for classes.

@2016Candles Yup registered and enrolled (had to double check), not sure why it’s not working for me but it isn’t too much trouble to look for classes manually. Thanks again though.

Regarding that candles, all three of my daughter’s classes say consult prof. No textbooks. Two of them I can see for sure because they’re off the grid subjects, but a first amendment legal class also has nothing. I’m thinking he’ll compile some cases, have them made into a specialty book, so there might be no way to get as used and those special-made ones usually aren’t cheap. I wonder if anyone else has taken comm studies 101?

This may sound like a silly question but… My orientation is in a couple days, and I am looking forward to signing up for my courses. But, I am wondering once I do sign up, will I be locked in? Meaning, if I a week later or so, if I want another course and want to drop something, can I make the switch, as we could at our CC’s?

No one can change their schedule til Sept 23. That includes transfers, freshman, and continuing students. So be sure. On 9/23 I can only imagine total pandemonium :-)

Just know I’m living vicariously through you guys. I’m real excited for all of you and hope to be in the same situation this time next year. Never forget how lucky you are, and how many are denied the opportunity you have. Take advantage of it.

I may be wrong but I heard not all that much opens up on Sept 23rd. So try to be happy with what you get and also realize it’s only the first quarter. From now on, it should be smoother sailing, as you’ll get in faster. If you don’t get what you really really really want, consider Plan B, with an easier course thrown in. I think you will later find that Plan B was a better option than a tougher Plan A right out the gate. It’s all about pacing…
