I wouldn’t consider myself a social butterfly, but I think I’ve made quite a few friends here.

But definitely join clubs/frats if you want to socialize more and may be having some trouble.

@Cayton How is Rieber (I think that is where you said you were)?

@CSB111 Really? I’m surprised, I thought the halls would be more social. I originally got Gardenia also but in the end I felt it was unreasonable for me to take out loan money just to stay on campus. I get you. Everything was really overwhelming for me, even how large the classes were. I knew they were going to be large but one of my classes felt more like an assembly. I was looking into the sororities but just with feeling it out I already knew it wasn’t for me

@Peanut0 Yeah the lounge is usually empty (I sat there for hours lol) and the floor is all sophomores and then a lot of international students. I actually rushed frats and was confident I could’ve got a bid where I wanted but didn’t end up paying the fee, but I was unsure so I didn’t pursue it further today.

I am OK with the cost of living on campus if it is a great experience, college only happens once, but so far I am underwhelmed. Maybe I’m being too critical too quickly.

I didn’t talk to anyone really. But I’m painfully shy and it’s partly my fault… I’m hoping to have more luck in my other classes. Because so far my classes were full of pretty akward and creepy people lol. I do wish I lived on campus I feel like that helps. I’m living at university apartments and was hoping to meet other married students but my building is full of antisocial people. Most people don’t seem to talk to anyone else here.

@CSB111

Rieber Terrace is great. Everyone here is very friendly to me and with each other. I’d say I’m very satisfied with the experience so far.

It’s unfortunate that you don’t think of your experience that way, but hopefully that will change. If not, maybe you should try and swap out of your current room and hope to get into Rieber or Gardenia since so many transfers reside there. Almost everyone on my floor is a new transfer. Perhaps it’s the same with Gardenia and with the other floors.

@Cayton
That’s the plan. When I went to the mixer, most of the people I met where either from Rieber, Gardenia or Dysktra surprisingly. I’m going to go talk to housing on Monday.

@CSB111

Good luck!

That party off landfair was crowded as ■■■■.

@CSB111 yea I think we both are maybe being a bit too critical, but its hard not to over-analyze something that’s new and very overwhelming. I wish I felt the same about the money lol but for me personally, it was too much of an amount to pull out in loans, and being in debt was just a stress I didn’t want to take on. But! hopefully our experience at ucla changes for the better

Im trying to figure put which elective to drop

I can ether take a Scandinavian course with a professor with amazing reviews on bruin walk … & go to school four days a week with a 3 hour break in-between another class(on one day) & buy two $40 books

or take a classics class with a brand new teacher that just finished his Phd and has no reviews anywhere and seems a bit dry… and not have to buy any books oh and it fits perfect with my schedule and ill only have to go t school 3 times a week

which should i choose? the whole no rating thing scares me because Ive had bad teachers before

@sonic23

I’d personally choose the Scandinavian professor if I were in your position.

@cayton right? My spouse also said this
And the whole fear of bad professors thing too lol

■■■■■■■ Fairbarin!!!

@Zalrons

lmao UCLA played a pretty bad game. The offensive line was nowhere to be seen and as a result, Hundley kept getting sacked. He got sacked about 10 times in that game…alone.

The kicker screwed up, but UCLA really shouldn’t depend on kickers to win the game in my opinion. Then again, I know diddly ■■■■ about football, lol

I was watching the game in my dorm building’s recreation room and we were all pretty disappointed with that performance.

I totally agree man. We played horribly. We couldn’t stop the run. Our OL didn’t play well. Brett didn’t play great. Utah showed no fear and played a great game. ■■■■, their coaching was even superior IMO.

I’m still wondering about that onside kick. I was at the game and it looked like the kicker didn’t go 10 yards. What did the commentators say? That play seemed to give the momentum to Utah even though their drive amounted in a punt.

It was a tough position to put the kicker in. The stadium erupted when that flag was thrown and it felt like we were going to pull off another close win. Although it sucks losing this one the game was fun at least. We still have a great team and some awesome games ahead! Go Bruins!

Wow, was definitely an upset weekend. Luckily the Pac 12 is a total mess…anything can happen from here. We will see how Oregon rebounds, as well as Stanford. There is the whole playoff picture this year too.

Cal has been playing surprisingly good…they are a hail mary away from beating U of A and being 5-0, and Arizona just beat Oregon.

@Zalrons

It looked like it was not 10 yards from where I was watching. The commentators thought it was short, too. It clearly was, but the referees disagreed. :/

@CSB111 Hey bro! I think things will get better. Just wanted to wish you well.

@calbro Thanks man! I appreciate it.
