The Official Fall 2014 UCLA Transfer Decisions Thread

@emilynicole83‌ I’m a non-trad student accepted into Pre-sociology also. I work full-time also, and I’m really trying to figure out how to work and go to UCLA since a lot of lectures are only offered in the mornings. How are you going to work it out??

@ucastell‌ Hi, my GPA is 3.92 when I applied to UC. I got in to UCLA with business econ major. In my winter quarter, I got C+ on Calculus 2. If I report this grade, will it affect my admission? Thanks!

@krisluo‌ You need to report that ASAP since it’s a major prereq, check your acceptance conditions.

@12bank‌ thanks! im worrying that it will affect my admission:(

@krisluo‌ What does it say for your acceptance conditions? If it doesn’t say anything about what grade you need in Calc then you should be fine.

@12bank‌ my acceptance conditions doesnt say anything specifically requiring what grade I need to have in Calc. but it requires me to report any C grade in major preparatory courses.

@krisluo You need to report it but from what my counselor told me as long as it doesn’t affect your overall GPA dramatically (ex: get like another 2C’s in some other courses) then you should be fine.

What if I dropped one of the planned class (calculus 3) that I originally put on application? Will it affect my decision as well? (major: econ) my major doesn’t require me to take calculus 3 and I found that I am not confident getting a good grade in this spring quarter.

Just curious, anyone on this board get rejected that was in TAP? Thanks.

wait! ucla doesn’t have biz admin anymore?

I wanna post my stat here and my question as well

ccc transfer
major:sociology
gpa :around 3.83
essay: okay… not bad
admitted : UCLA UCSB UCSD
Waiting: CAL

question: The contract listed in UCLA is slightly strict.
I should have at least 3A 1B in this semester ( currently taking 4 classes)
Just very worry…
can anyone tell me if I fail to make 3A ( or just off -2A sth)
will UCLA disqualify me ?

@cayton hope I can get your help. Thanks

@fionat127‌

Tell me what your contract says about the grades you must earn this semester. I can better help you if you tell me. :)

@Cayton How do you find the energy to answers all these questions? I forgot to tell you, but Congratulations on getting accepted to UCLA. You’re like the most helpful user on this website.

@CollegeDropout1‌

I have a passion for helping people out whenever and wherever I can. It brings me joy to help people. And besides that, as a philosophy major whose favorite field of philosophy is ethics, I feel morally obligated to help others at least sometimes, as I believe all people should.

And thanks! Congrats on getting in at UCLA yourself! Hope to see you there this fall, man.

I thought that UCLA mostly focused on numbers but it looks like I’m wrong, seeing that many accepted students have less than a 3.7. Congrats everyone :)

@cayton it says I have to get a 3.60 gpa or above in this semester , while I am having 4 classes (3 classes are not easy to me) , I don’t sure whether I can get it ( I can only 1B among these 3 )

@Fionat127 What is your major? Are you sure the 3.6 GPA is not cumulative?

Hey, so I was wondering if anybody thinks it’s worth it to even bother with an appeal. I don’t really have anything new that occurred, so I don’t really think I’d have a good reason to. I honestly thought my gpa and having completed six pre-reqs meant I had a pretty good shot. I also wondered if it was a smart move for me to have focused so much on the fact that I’m a 10th grade dropout in my personal statement.

@randombookie‌

It seems that they still do, but are taking ECs and PS into account more now, which is great! However, it’s definitely not like applying out of high school where ECs are everything, lol. It seems that they can only help you, not hurt you, and not having them won’t mean you’ll be rejected. I had basically no ECs and a mediocre personal statement and still got in!

@fionat127‌

Hmm, all I can say is to do the best you possibly can. If you expect to get 3 A’s and one B this semester and you do in fact get those grades, you’ll maintain your contract because your grades will be high enough and your overall GPA will still be high enough for UCLA.

If at the end of the semester you feel you haven’t gotten the necessary grades to maintain your contract, contact UCLA and explain your situation to them. They’re quick to respond to any emails and they also take phone calls to talk about admissions contracts. You can also visit UCLA’s admission office if that’s an option for you.

Is anyone commuting? I really want to go to ucla and it’s way to expensive to move to that area, I currently live about 45 minutes away (if there’s no traffic), and I was wondering of anyone is or has commuted, was it to much of a hassle, especially with the LA traffic?
