hi freakout thread!!!
i hope you all are hanging in there
in the meantime, what are some non-BS related activities that everyone’s been keeping themselves busy with?
Studying for the math olympiad, reading, running, developing my non-profit, self-studying math.
You have a nonprofit? What is it about?
I don’t have have. I have a Girl Up club that I founded about education where we make fundraisers and workshops and that sort of thing. I wanted to create something different for the club, so I’m deveolping a website and non-profit with online classes and etc that will work side by side with my club.
i’ve been having a field day considering that today’s valentines day
i spent like a week or so devising an elaborate scheme to ask this guy from my school but i got rejected lol
it’s fine tho we ball…
I am training for cross country season, doing science research, and painting painting painting. I’m trying to start an art business to make money for these summer programs I’m looking into using etsy/ebay but the art I’m making is bad bc I’m in a slump.
I’m entering in a lot of competitions but keep losing lmao and that isn’t doing much for my self esteem but hopefully I’ll get good news for scholastic art and writing, they keep pushing back the announcement day.
interesting! cross country at my school is a fall sport
i wonder why that is
it is here too! That’s the most common
totally get the feeling. not worth your time anyway!
i have to train for college xc but im caught up with spring track too, would be nice run 24 in the 6k next year
I ran Division 1 XC, indoor, and outdoor track in college. One of the things that helped me the most was weight training a few times a week. Nothing major/super heavy, but I saw a big difference and dropped my time from a 19:00 5k to an 18:30 from spring track to fall XC when adding the weight training. Plus, you’ll notice your times will go down with the very different training you will get in college as well as simply having a team of great runners around you. Good luck!
I’m currently studying for Math Team States, Science Olympiad States, USAJMO, and some other competitions. I’ve also recently got a board membership at a non-profit partnered with some great universities, and I’m thrilled about that. Additionally, I got a paying position to assist special needs students with swimming, which is awesome since I’m doing what I enjoy while getting paid. I’m also prepping up for the State swimming competition and a few international/national/local music competitions. And, of course, I’m trying to overlook the impending decision date.
how are you going to continue your non-profit at boarding school?
I attend a school with a very heavy workload. I’m on winter break right now, but there is still a lot of homework for me. I somehow wish school can start as soon as possible, then I will be so busy that 310 approaches before I realize.
Except before that I would need to survive my winter break homework.
What you guys are doing definitely sounds AMAZING!!! Good luck to all of us!!
Thank you! I’m planning to run D3 and my current HS coach tries to implement cross training because it truly does help! I’m more of an 800/1500m runner though so I definitely have more muscle than a lot of xc runners.
My non-profit has people both in Portugal and Brazil, so it works very well online!
Just curious, has anyone told their friends about applying to boarding schools?
I did! Since I’m portuguese, they had NEVER heard of it and some of them thought that I was joking LOL.
I have but since I live in MA everyone has someone they know going to BS.
Yeah I did. It’s becoming a more popular thing where I’m from but most of them don’t see the appeal.
