The Official October 2012 Sat Subject Test Math Level 2 Thread

I think i picked “2, 3, or 4”

for the area of rectangles with the ln(x^2) graph what were the options… I picked the first answer which was larger than 15.5… I think it was 21, can anyone confirm this?

yes, others have already corroborated that it’s 21. the exact answer, iirc, is 2( ln(16) + ln(36) + ln(64) )

I’m pretty sure the question said that they had at least one unequal root. …Or so my brain remembers.

tomkim, just to clarify

collegeboard will definitely not cancel your score
I’ve taken 6 SAT tests and discussed it on CC for each one, and nothing bad has happened to me. I mean whats gonna happen? Collegeboard will trace your IP?

wasn’t there a probability question
and also a question with answer (square root of 21, 2)?

Oops, it just occurred to me that (square root of 21, 2) was given–anyone remember the answer to that question?

Hey guys what do you think the score will be if i omitted four and missed another SIX… I wanted at least 770. Should i cancel my test

So which review books do you think are the best, in hindsight, after taking the test?

^Barron’s, definitely. Princeton Review is less so. McGraw-Hill I’m not sure about; it’s purported to be the easiest by a long shot, but I got about 660-690 on my McGraw-Hill tests but 720 on Barron’s.

wogud220, you may get 770. It sounds like you’re borderline there, maybe a little lower. 750, 760, or whatever you get is still pretty good. Don’t cancel your test.

True. I’m not gonna jeopardize my score by talking about the questions and I hope no one else will continue to do so.

Anyway, everyone seems to be saying this test was hard, but I found it refreshingly easy. I’d taken a Barron’s practice one a couple of days earlier, which might have helped. But I was so nervous and ended up having, like, 15 or 20 minutes left - plenty of time to check my work.

ok michael2013. i just wanted to warn all of you guys. im not gonna risk it, but im just warning you guys.

Anybody have advice for me??

Anybody have advice for me??

i mean, dont cancel just see what comes up. you can choose which to send to colleges. 4 omit, 6 wrong isnt that bad. thats a 39/50, which could be around a 760

Overall, do u guys think the test was difficult?

Would the curve be nice or harsh?

i thought it was ok but im hoping a 42 is an 800 cause i messed up and skipped some

Any more admonition/advice on the best review books? Thanks for your advice, emberjed. I have Barrons, Princeton Review, & Chung. I think I’m going to start with PR, then Barrons, then Chung, since PR seems the easiest, then Barrons will be thorough and challenging, and Chung offers a lot of problems.

Believe me, Barron’s is all you need. I worked through all the practice tests as well as two CB ones and can say that Barron’s is SIGNIFICANTLY more difficult (and that the CB tests were a waste of 15 bucks). The general consensus seems to be that Barron’s is best. :)

“Aim high, expect low”

Barron’s throws you off when you study off it because the practice tests are killer. Truth is, half the things in the guide won’t be included in the test. Stick with Barron’s; it covers a lot of ground for the real test.
