I have a friend who got into the animation program today - no interview. Ah, I’m nervous.

I’m fairly sure they don’t interview writing majors…I applied for writing, and I distinctly remember there being something about not having interviews so as to focus on the portfolio. I certainly haven’t gotten a call. Not sure about transfers, though.

any production acceptances today!?

well i do not know anything about writing majors. but i’ve read several forums saying that some have received a phone interview who are applying as a production major.
ccgonazlez, no i haven’t got it yet

ah LifeLikeMusic , is your friend in state or oos?
gahh i’m so nervous I applied to the animation program also

Im a transfer and I am pretty sure that we have to wait longer then incoming freshman. Ahhhh, the anxiety is getting horrible.

We’re in Texas. Good luck!

How confusing! There are now two USC Class of 2013 groups on Facebook. On one of these a student posted today he had been admitted to the interactive entertainment program in SCA. He is from Maryland.

FilmFanatic,

Have you heard of transfers hearing later than others? It seems strange to me that they would notify people/make their final choices at different times, seeing as how there are only so many spots, especially for Writing(24-26 average). I’m applying as a transfer, but I’m not enrolled in school, so I’m hoping that the “request for spring grades” not being an issue will speed up the process. Are you enrolled?

luckygirl1791,

Did your status change on the website? Mine hasn’t moved from 12/23, but then again, I have no Spring grades that need to be reviewed because I’m not currently enrolled. I’m starting to think that the status change is for those with spring grades in review.

EDYE,

I know for a fact that it is rolling admissions. Meaning that even transfers hear at different times. I don’t know the exact reasoning for this but I do know that this is the way it happens. I also know that transfers are reviewed after incoming freshman so we typically hear back later than them. Hang in there man. Up until today I haven’t let this whole college thing get to me but when my best friend (incoming freshman) heard back today It kinda reignited the flame that I had been ignoring on purpose. I am currently a Moorpark College (community) Film student.

The number of transfer spots has more to do with the size of your specific graduating class and not the incoming freshmen. That said, I think SCA decisions are already out, and successful transfer is contingent on acceptance to USC itself.

SCA transfer decisions I don’t think are already out for transfers. They still have until June 1st and I have a few contacts at the film school and was told that they just started reviewing transfers a few weeks ago.

Not out. I meant, “in review.”

When I called early February to make sure recs went through, they were already filed and in review.

O yea sorry, I agree with that. Jeeze, this is getting so insane. Im a little angry at how corrupt the trojan system can be sometimes too. Had a friend with a 2.8 and 1400 sat, also horrible essays get in because her grandfather donates alot of money and pulled some strings. He also is very involved in the film school.

I actually just met a documentary filmmaker (MFA Production, '00) through a random class that I took as a follow up to another random class at Tulane… So I guess that could’ve paid off. I was able to interview her, and I had enough knowledge of the Soviet Union to draw from and she seemed pretty impressed. I asked about Professors T. Holman, Boyd, and Casper, and she knew all of them, so I think I got the bump.

Make sure to check your mailboxes today everyone … it would seem that SCA decisions have probably been mailed and should be received throughout the next week. Good luck!

Thats sweet man. Hopefully that helps out. Even though I have a few strings that I pulled at USC I am still so skeptical about getting in.

Thanks KOHR. I’m trying my best to be optimistic here. Does anyone know how many people get into the Critical Studies major?

oh KOHR,

you make me sooooo happy!

i want to get in so bad! and my status updates on 18th and 19th are making me freak! haha. but i think your right!
