my reason for choosing it is that I can’t afford to go anywhere else other than a CSU(without completely leaching off my now retired father or going into debt), because I NEED to live at home. I’m going to an inferior school. DAMN straight I’ll rationalize it to hell. It’s a means of settling cognitive dissonance.

and to be blunt, even thought I live within jogging distance of Irvine, I don’t know much about it other than stereotypes(lots of asians, ****ty drivers, no crime, boring, small overpriced housing) I’ve only been to irvine for a couple of parties with friends and that’s it. Will say that my experience in the trafic has been good. Traffic is great there. I live in Costa Mesa. This is my home. I like it here. I’m in a more white, more middle class area, but all in all it’s a nice place to grow up and live. I never worry about crime, weather is great, there’s the fair, and a lot of people I’ve known since I was a little kid.

in conclusion, I am a ■■■■■.

i’m going to be blunt, I know I’d enjoy CSULB and UCSB far more, heck I’d like CSUF more just because I have a lot of good friends there. I’m a prestige whore as much as the next guy. I’ll fully admit I didn’t put in the effort(well any effort really) to do well. I’m a horrible underachiever, I have a lot of untapped potential and I’ve had teachers tell this to me for years. I get bored easily, I’m easily distracted, and I get spiteful when someone tells me to do something. I’ll teach myself a course because I love learning, but I won’t do homework for the same course when i actually take it years later. If you look at my grades, I got high As in classes which were mostly test based and low Bs in courses which were easier but had homework. If I actually tried in psychology, anthropology, intro to computers(100% on every test, 20% overall HW grade) and did homework in calc, I’d have a 3.9+ GPA. I didn’t, I have like a 3.6

I’ve never understood the asian-bad driver stereotype. I mean, has nobody seen the Fast and the Furious quadrilogy?!?!? Those block parties are filled with asians.

I think we’ll get in, because we both listen to good post rock which inspired our awesome essays. Man, philosophy… that’s great. I have honestly been thinking of switching to phil or minoring in it. DO you know how difficult it is to switch majors at berk?

I think it’s mostly the Vietnamese who are responsible for the stereotype. I could be wrong and as we all know, there are ALWAYS exceptions to the stereotype.

dont you just love the honda civic 30inch diameter exhaust asians? oh i forgot to mention the boeing crafted rear spoiler so large it should be put on a 747

Yeah the people that drive those civics tend to be mexicans, the vietnamese, or filipinos. Fits in perfectly with my theory that vietnamese people and filipinos are the mexicans of asia.

Hopefully I was able to offend a decent number of people with this post.

I dunno, maybe waking up in the middle of the night is affecting my judgment, but I thought it was pretty damn hilarious. My mommie says it’s ok to be racist in the car, but ONLY in the car. Other than that, the world has no place for it.

And @NYC- If it makes you feel better, I got an email from UCSB today that said my app hadn’t even been touched yet! And I’m a 3.8+ student, so don’t feel bad. It’s possible that yours hasn’t even been reviewed yet.
