* The Official UC Transfer Late-night Discussion Thread*

What I am saying is that at least for all the CSUs I’ve been accepted to their is no “SIR” like at the UC’s you just click accept admissions and you are fine. I asked someone because I was worried of acceptng mine at Humboldt would prevent me from going to berkeley and they said not at all.

Yeah its an ITR( Intent to Register).

It’s not a contract or anything so just accept it :). You intend to… Unless you get in somewhere better

Yeah looks like I’ll eat the desposit if I get in else where.

after a great weekend, i think im changing to ucsb. i was so set on ucsd too… ahh decisions

i’m choosing ucsb over sd too! but only because sd doesn’t have my major, sd is the better school

^ yeah it is academically. heres my thoughts.

sd points:
better academia
a tiny bit better weather
nicer campus, housing

sb points:
more school spirit
more exciting, entertaining sporting events
better lacrosse team (for few people)
better social activities and party scene
i get a little bit more fin aid
about an hour closer to home

Hi everyone! I just checked my inbox and I got accepted to UC Davis! :)

I didn’t think I’d get into most of the schools I applied to! Now I have to make some serious decisions . . . wow . . .

Congrats enchantedivy! That’s awesome!

Yay! Congratulations! :)

thanks guys! haha im hoping this means i still have a chance at ucsd! So far I haven’t been rejected from anywhere but San Jose State and that was because they were giving locals priority.

Out of UCD, UCR and UCSC which would you guys say has the best English program?

Lol I saw my inbox and kind of shrieked with joy. My mom thought I fell or hurt myself or something and she came in looking all concerned hahaha.

I’m sure you have a shot at UCSD! As for the english major, I would actually say that UCSC probably has the best. I’ve often heard that UCSC has an excellent literature department (not entirely sure if that’s the same as english though…). This is actually saying a lot coming from me because I’ve loved Davis for a while now and almost always advocate for it when I can. I highly recommend looking into UCSC english department and seeing if it’s conducive to what you’re looking for in a school.

I was just looking at Davis v. Santa Cruz… Does SC have an English department, or is it just the Literature department?

sc prob better for english. i would go visit both schools and surrounding areas.

you gotta make sure you are gonna be happy where you go.

It has an english department that I’m sure of.

Who is better for Anthro, UCD or UCSB?

Hmm. Thanks @emilsinclair and everyone else.

The thing is that SC and Davis are both a little further away from my hometown than I’m comfortable with, but I know a few people at Davis. One of my friends that I’ve known since I was born basically (childhood friend) is going to be a senior at Davis next year so I mean she knows a lot of people and her way around campus and classes and stuff, and I was thinking of maybe rooming with her (if she doesn’t mind lol). So that’s a plus for Davis. I have never seen the UCSC campus and I’ve only seen Davis when they were on spring break and I know I didn’t get the full experience so I can’t really judge. UCSD is still my dream school . . . dammit how much longer do I have to wait! Lol

And for UCSC I got accepted for the Literature major because I think they don’t have a general English major.

So what are you guys’ options looking like right now? Still waiting on any schools or deciding or have you already decided?

Well, I’m in at SD and SB for anthropology. Still waiting for UCLA and Berkeley. This changes all the time, but if I were to be accepted to all 4 school, and financial aid was all comparable- I’d be heading to UCLA in the fall!

@evan Very cool. I come from a Bruin family haha I’m kind of the black sheep in that UCLA never really appealed to me. Well, it did in elementary school but only because at that point it was the only university campus I’d ever seen  But all of my cousins who went there really really liked it.
