I think we should all make a point to hang out when we get to Berkeley ^^ we’ve been friends for a while on here
@failure622 where are you living this year? What if I end up liking Martinez, do you think I can stay for another year? I know it might seem lame for a senior to live in housing but it’s pointless to buy furnitures and stuff for just one year ^^*

@uclax2 Housing is guaranteed to students who place “any room-any size” as their 5th preference. In your case, if you’re not selected for any of your first four preferences, they recommend that you update your preferences, but housing will not be guaranteed. I was not fortunate enough to get into any of my five preferences, so I’m looking for off-campus housing. Hope you are fortunate enough to receive an offer for one of your preferences.

“any room any size” made me kinda scared but I got my first choice aka the apparently “glorious” Martinez Commons so I guess it all depends on luck
I’m an international transfer student and EOP too, but I don’t know if those even count as priority! Technically I could’ve applied for the co-ops but I hear that they’re dirty.

Just accepted my offer so it’s official now, I guess

do you guys know anything about unit 3 Spens-Black hall?

@moriartee I thought EOP was only for domestic students. Anyway, gratz to you on getting one of the nicest housing offers :)>- .

Will anyone be living in the coops?

@moriartee I’m actually in a weird semi-graduated state right now… I’m commuting from home one last time for summer session, but unfortunately I don’t get to live very close to campus next year. I lived in a mini-suite my first year and Wada the second… especially in the apartments, it’s not too weird to be a junior/senior. But they’ll make you go through the housing lottery again, so there’s no guarantee you could get Martinez a second time.

@failure622 well do they send out housing offers earlier for continuing students? If I don’t get another single next year I’d have to look for apartments since I cannot have another person in the same room when I sleep. :p

@moriartee Housing offers for continuing students come out in mid-March, so it gives you plenty of time to explore other options if you don’t like the assignment.

I paid my housing deposit today so I’ll be neighbors with some of you!

Sadly there was a problem with my IGETC. I had a bad gut feeling there was going to be an issue, they usually give me a hassle at my CC. I made sure I ordered it almost a month in advance (it takes a week) and had transcripts from my other colleges sent to my home college before ordering certification. I went through all the steps and made sure I checked the box that asks for full evaluation using all transcripts on file for me. I have my second English course and Geology from different colleges. And they messed up and only used ones from my home college so they sent partial certification instead of full. I printed receipts and assist IGETC for those colleges proving I did everything right on my part and they said they made a mistake and they’ll send another one free of charge, but now I’m so worried. I’m going to try to see a counselor or something and see if I pay for an overnight shipping envelope if they can send it overnight. :((

@credulitykills, the same thing happened to me! I ordered my transcripts with the full IGETC certification two weeks in advance just so that I didn’t have to worry about last minute problems. Next thing you know I decide to check my community college’s website to see if my transcripts had already been sent, to my surprise they were still processing them (this happened on June 26). I decided to go to my school, turns out they were asking for an AP score that no one bothered to tell me I needed, not even my counselor, she simply told me to give her my HS transcript and that she would take care of the rest. I was freaking out because I had CALSO the following day, and I simply only had 4 days left before the deadline. Luckily I was able to find a copy of my college board score for my AP score and talk to the person in charge of IGETC certification, she was able to accept the copy. She just asked me to order the official AP scores and that she would take care of it, long story short it got solved. I would just contact your admissions officer and give him/her proof that you did everything right, just in case they try to cancel your admission. Be proactive about this, Berkeley is a huge school so no one is going to be sending you reminders about deadlines etc. I wish you the best of luck

@ucastell Thanks! I’m glad yours worked out and you caught it in time! I had no idea mine was partial until my AO got back to me today. We don’t have any system that allows you to check the status. My CC claims they don’t even do partial IGETC, so I guess I assumed if there was an issue they would notify me that it was incomplete. I would pick it up myself and overnight it or even deliver it in person if that’s what it took, but they said I can’t pick it up from the office. They have to send it themselves. I’ll go back tomorrow and offer to pay for overnight and see if there’s a counselor I can talk to that can speed up the process.

@credulityskills, aw I’m very sorry to hear that :/. I was able to see the problem on time because CALSO for me was on the 27th, otherwise, they would’ve messed up my admission to Berkley and then we would’ve had problems lol. I insist, you should definitely notify your admissions officer. It says that if your transcript is still not on the system by late July they will give you instructions on how to submit your transcripts. My CALSO leader told me she had a similar problem as mine, she was also able to solve it, but she said that her transcript was received until July 30th (good thing her transcript was postmarked before the deadline). I seriously hope you can solve your problem!
Try to gather as much evidence as possible just in case, don’t let someone else’s ineptitude ruin your dream of going to Berkeley, especially now that you’re admitted! Now that would seriously suck, but I’m optimistic you will be able to solve your problem :).

@ucastell B-E-R-K-E-L-E-Y :D!

@credulitykills Do you go to any of the following schools:

Citrus College
DeAnza College
Diablo Valley College
Foothill College
Glendale Community College
Lake Tahoe Community College
Long Beach City College
Moreno Valley College
Mt. San Antonio College
Norco College
Saddleback College
San Jose City College
Santa Monica College

If so, they’re accepting late transcripts from them.

Damn. My transcripts were sent in forever ago, but the status on those are still “In Review”
You guys are getting me worried. I shot my admission officer an email, but she usually is not that great with replying within 1 business days. :/

@calbro I did attend Foothill and completed my English with them, and one class this past quarter and grades haven’t posted yet. That was one of the transcripts I sent to my home college early June with Spring work in progress. I completed English in Winter quarter though so I’m not sure if that would apply to my IGETC.

@moriartee I wouldn’t worry! All of mine still say “In Review”.

@moriartee, The myberkeley app says that transcripts will be seen as received/reviewed/final review etc two weeks after you submitted your transcripts so you should be fine (so as long as your transcripts are postmarked by the deadline, no need to worry even if they receive them/review them on July 30). However, if your transcripts still say in process or in review at your former school, then you should definitely contact them ASAP!. If your transcripts say in review on your myberkeleyapp you should be fine, they’re still reviewing at least 2000 more transcripts, so don’t worry :).

@calbro, are you ready this fall?
what’s your major? I’m a bit nervous, but they accepted us for a reason so hopefully I can survive Berkeley haha.

Psych is the major I applied with. Doing Social Welfare as a double because of the overlap.

@calbro, that’s cool! did you go to CALSO?

I did. June 13th. You? I see you’re MCB and doing the neuroscience route. Very cool dude. What classes did you sign up for?
