Essays: I felt pretty confident in them! I talked about how I became interested in learning, and in the major-specific one I talked about how I loved knowing about “the bigger picture” that is historical knowledge, so to speak. I didn’t have any major struggles that you would normally think of in writing these essays, and I was pretty honest about that.

@Fcrane Its not that Berkeley “values what people say more than what people actually do.” Its that it takes into consideration people’s circumstances and life obstacles, which I think is great. Not everyone has the same opportunities in life. The fact that Berkeley takes into consideration that some people are less privileged and therefore may have had to work a bit harder to attain the grades that they did is an awesome characteristic of the school. In fact, its kind of what Berkeley is all about. Love the holistic approach!

For those of us who have been accepted for the spring semester, do you think we’ll be able to graduate by May of 2016? I am hoping I can take classes through my CC this fall that will count towards a semester at Berkeley, so I only end up having to spend 3 semesters there. Is this possible? Does anyone know the minimum amount of upper division units required for graduation? Obviously each major has its own requirements, but I am assuming there is a specific # of upper division units we need, outside of major requirements…
