[ *] Teacher Recs: I got my letter of recommendation from my engineering teacher, who attended college at the University of Michigan
[ *] Counselor Rec: Probably very positive, she has known me almost my entire life and hand-picked me for being a Junior Rotarian earlier this year

[ *] major strength/weakness: I believe that my strengths are a passion for engineering, as well as some experience with engineering. I have taken engineering classes at my school for 3 years, learning how to code as well as many other useful skills. My major weakness that I have identified is my low math ACT score, at only a 28

@TUJG89 - I’d be amazed if CoE does not admit your son. You may get a deferral just because of volume and lack of legacy status (no reflection on his performance) . Did he do a HAIL interview? How did it go?
@KevinPriceBoM - I think you are going to get a deferral and request for senior grades. UMich is going to want to see you have recovered. You need to improve your ACT too. If your portfolio is really great and you get an audition and you kill it, you will be admitted even with your current stats. Some may also depend on your HS - some get a GPA bump due to rigor. Good luck!

@Emminey You have a really strong application. Especially as an in-state student, I think you have a strong chance at acceptance

Transferring from in-state Community College to LSA (Psychology) for Fall '16

[ *] Ethnicity: Asian
[ *] Gender: Male
[ *] major strength/weakness: ACT writing score was weak, only a 6.
[ *] Other Factors/questions:

I did the interview with a local alumni. I think it went extremely well. I actually was born and raised in Michigan and U of M had been a school I wanted to go all my life. I always wanted to come back. Me and my interviewer actually shared a whole lot in common including one of our family friends that he worked with. Very comfortable atmosphere and good talk. Overall I think my interview was awesome.

Also applied EA but I don’t think that affects admission chances

@sarangooL - You should be accepted.
@robindesea - You might be deferred because you’re OOS and because of the GPA, but I think you’ll be accepted when all is said and done.

@12temps12 I like your chances. They don’t get many applicants from Montana, that will work in your favor. ACT is on the low side, but still within their published average.

Good luck!

[ *] Other Factors/questions: Applied early action, applied to LSA despite my course load focusing towards engineering; I’m not sure if I want to study something in the liberal arts or engineering…

@yesyesno I could see you going either way. The GPA is low, but the ECs are great. You’ll probably be deferred based on the GPA as an OOS, but you could definitely be accepted after the deferral. Especially if you have an upward trend like you seem to indicate.

Who the heck told you a 32 was average? Looks dang good to me.

@mjr2013 I meant to put “average ACT for Umich” (Middle 50%)
Thanks for the chance me! I’m a bit relieved now.

@MrGupta Your SAT and ACT scores are both below the 25th percentile. It would be a eeach for you although international students would be evaluated with slightly different criteria.
