***The official University of Michigan Chances Thread:***

His SAT is high, but not that high. Either way, everyone needs assurance. I don’t blame him.

norcal1991: low match

Just to clarify, I’m using my friend’s username and I don’t intend on applying to to any Ivies.

[ *] College (LSA, engineering, etc.): LSA

[ *] Gender: Female
[ *] major strength/weakness: Strengths - Liberal subjects like English, social studies, foreign language, Weaknesses - Math and science (mainly math)
[ *] Other Factors/questions: If I am applying for a major in English, will a low math grade affect my admission? I got a D in a very hard honors Analysis class junior year that our school gives an extra quality point for due to its difficulty. I was moved down to an on-level math class second semester and got an A.

^ from what i’ve heard, a 3.5 GPA and a 30 ACT out of state is pretty much an acceptance (and a 3.517 and a 32 is higher than those)… so i’d say that’s good enough to get in

^what about high GPA but low ACT/SAT scores and OOS? do they look more at GPA or ACT/SAT?

I think they weigh both equally or relatively the same, because theyre both important

Peytoncline: Really? I’ve been told that my GPA’s too low and that I may be deferred.

Peytoncline Idk where you are getting your info from but plenty of people with 31 ACTs and 3.75 GPA+ that were oos last year got rejected, alot of them got in too though also

tazmanian> GPA>>>>>SAT/ACT according to last year’s stats…especially for OOS.

GPA is definitely more important. ACT/SAT is next, along with curriculum.

ivyhopeful: slight reach/low match. 3.5 GPA is a little low.

bjcapsfan10, What’s your Michigan GPA?

To compute your Michigan GPA:

 1. count only sophomore and junior core courses (unweighed)
 2. drop all +/- (i.e., B+/B/B-=3.0)

about 3.3, its the same because i have to remove a few weight training A’s

Yeah… you’re really hard to chance. Normally, a 3.3 GPA would be rejected, but considering your school background, I don’t know…
