@American2468, they don’t care about your weighted GPA. Admissions calculate your GPA using their own method. When they calculate, they don’t weigh classes, meaning AP’s are weighted the same as regular classes. Essentially, you cannot get above a 4.0 in terms of UM GPA.
@EMPire18 Oh that’s interesting. So do you think I have a shot at getting in? I know that it’s a reach for me but is it possible? Does Michigan place more of an emphasis on GPA and SAT scores or EC activities and the essay?
@America2468, Though the odds may not be in your favor because of your GPA and SAT scores, I think you have a shot. Luckily for you (no offense intended), Michigan doesn’t look at your writing section, so your composite score is a 1310, putting you in the 50% SAT range for enrolled students, which is 1280-1480. Your GPA is good but 75% of enrolled students at Michigan had a high school GPA of 3.75 or higher. Your course rigor (4 APs) is good but not outstanding because many other applicants haven taken many more AP’s. Finally, because of your out of state status, it will be even more difficult to get it. Good luck!
