The Olympics

I totally agree, DonnaL!

I agree Donna. I love that he is not boring. I"m glad he’s getting rid of the fur though.

I loved Shen and Zhao’s short program; the free skate was lackluster. Still, I totally fell for NBC’s fairy-tale sentimentality and was rooting for them to win.

Johnny Weir used to train at my local ice skating rink. Actually, the other local skating club–UDel’s–has produced a lot of national-level skaters.

Because the event took place in a different timezone, and there’s a limit to how early they’re going to do it. When it comes to viewing times, the east coast is already incredibly pampered.

I respect ice skating, but after seeing the clown costumes the one couple wore the other night, I have to say I chuckled at this list: Top 10 Worst Figure Skating Costumes!

[Culture Clash - The Top 10 Worst Figure-Skating Costumes - TIME](http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1964288_1964289,00.html)

The French kid who just skated is such a cutie - and very talented. What a back story - abandoned to the streets of Brazil as a child and adopted by a French couple.

abasket - I was surprised Tonya Harding wasn’t on that list so I looked around and found this.

I didn’t like the really bland brown costumes one of the pairs wore yesterday. Even my son who doesn’t really pay attention to that sort of thing commented on it.

Did everyone else just have that odd video of Evgeni Plushenko talking about his enemies. Very weird I thought.

^^ I thought those were the most boring costumes I had ever seen.

‘Evgeni Plushenko talking about his enemies.’ Yes I saw it and now after watching his performance, I have a feeling he’s trying to “macho” it up a bit. Perhaps in response to Weir?? Kindof weird…
Actually, I thought Weir’s swan costume was quite good…

catera, that line rates a 76.5. Personal best?

Yep, plenty of bad costumes!

hayden, are you suggesting we start the CC Olympics? Do we lose points for grammatical errors - what about unintentional humor -bonus points?

Go Lindsey!

I checked on Men’s skating. Johnny Weir coming up. It’s interesting to read the skaters’ bios.

Oh boy, Evgeni Plushenko is certainly an unlikeable fellow, isn’t he? Would he call me one of his “enemies” for saying that? I think that allows him to act rather stand-offish. I didn’t like his program, what with all that arm waving, but the jumps were amazing.

Oh Nooo! Lindsey’s out!

No, no. Unintentional humor has to be a demerit. Only humor that’s intentional earns points.

And we could have events. We could have the “Chance me” triathalon (gpa, sat and EC’s); and of course the Parent Cafe decathalon - OP of the thread which first reaches 10 pages wins.

(And don’t get me started about the Political Forum. That’s not the Olympics, it’s more like mud wrestling.)

So much on TV tonight – skating, AI AND Lost. I’m flipping back and forth and am thrilled to come here to learn I hadn’t missed Weir. I love him. When asked by the Today show who was his Olympic crush, he said Squatchi.

I didn’t like Pluschenko at all. I’m liking the guy on now.

^^The Japanese skater? I enjoyed him much more than Plushenko. None of the flailing arms like Plushenko.

Ooh - Plushenko did not look pleased. Maybe Takahashi is one those enemies he was talking about.

Takahashi’s program was so spirited and elegant. I really enjoyed it more than Plushenko’s also. And what did you all think of the Austrian? He seemed to have all the necessary stuff, and I loved his costume. However, his routine just seemed so bland.

I feel so badly for Lindsey Jacobellis.

Wow, this kid skating is a human dreidel.
