The Olympics

This guy was an amazing spinner!!

More jumping, skating, arm flailing, jumping, repeat. Skaters like this guy just don’t appeal to me.

…way too many rhinestones or my taste.

No rhinestones and jimi hendrix to boot!!! Whhooohooo!!

He looks so young!!

Can’t believe he is almost twenty. I thought he was about 12!

Just hopped on this thread for the first time tonight. If you think Plushenko seems egotistical in that video tonight. take a look at the “Tom Jones” exhibition skate he did in 2001. It is… astonishing. I showed it to my mom, she is a skating fan, it was hilarious.

I don’t think I can post a link, it has a word that will be censured. But if you search for “Plushenko Tom Jones” and pick one of the s** bomb videos, you will find it.

I really liked Kozuka and Chan had neat coreography despite the technical errors…can’t wait for Lysacek and Abbot

Love Johnny’s moves. He makes the footwork make sense.

Oh yeah, the infamous Tom Jones - that was quite a show! I do not think it was a program he used in competition.

Lindsay is out? :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: I might as well turn off the TV.

Sorry for the spoiler BB.

Evan has an Adam Lambert look going tonight.

That’s OK - my home page is set to Yahoo news, and I see all the spoilers right there when I open IE!

Go Evan! We are huge Evan fans. We had tickets to the Nationals long program in 2008 in St. Paul, 3rd row. We ended up sitting next to Johnny Wier’s aunt, so D had to tone down her Evan shrieks a bit…

But Johnny did just skate a very clean program, good for him.

I saw a little blurb on Evan’s costume. Vera Wang designed it.

I can barely watch it :(.Our 2 NBC channels are messed up again. Like watching strobe lights.

Johnny’s program looked clean…and safe. At his score, I wonder if he can get a medal. By contrast, Plushenko’s scores look rather untouchable.

Thanks for the suggestion to see “Plushenko: Tom Jones” Hilarious!! what arms he has! Whoa. Must have worked out 24/7

Go Evan. My hope for #1.

Meanwhile, what’s with Kevin’s very bizarre skeleton costume? (The guy who’s skating now.) It would have looked so much better on a thinner body.

I was expecting the “monster mash” to start playing…

Remember when they had to do the compulsory figures? Now that was fun to watch - not. It is pretty amazing that they did away with the figures in figure skating. I think many years ago, they counted for about 60% of the score.

Maybe I was too influenced by this thread, but I was expecting something really exciting and special from Weir. He seemed pretty average (if you can call top tier Olympic quality as average). Was this his normal program? Or did he tone it down?

I’m not sure Evan can pull off the feathers, but he looked spectacular out there.

Now that guy (Evan) showed some power on the ice!
