<p>Thank you for this! it was just what I needed after attending a few year-end school events this week and listening to too many parents regale me with the college-counselor generated summer endeavors of their well-packaged rising seniors. Wears…me…out.</p>
<p>Last year, D’s AP Lang teacher would distribute to the class similiar Onion articles to relieve the stress of the college app process. It’s good to laugh at the absurdity of it all sometimes!</p>
<p>Good god. Every kid involved with this shelter needs to get a life in order to write their admissions essay. They’re so self-centered that they don’t even think about those who are actually PAID for this job!</p>
<p>I love The Onion. The writing is incredibly clever, and it’s a real boost when I’m having a bad day. My S listens to their podcasts. Somehow, it’s even more hilarious when read out loud.</p>
<p>On community service: Despite consistent, major administrative goof-ups in the recording of community service hours on transcripts at my S’s school, the pattern of college acceptance success didn’t change. Hmmm…</p>
