the only reason i got waitlisted

Oh yeah, if anyone remembers me, I got waitlisted instead of rejected, even with pretty low stats. (I had a 740 on my verbal SAT and good SAT II scores, however, as well as a lot of interesting activities… yada yada, don’t feel like explaining all of my grades/achievements, etc…) So they waitlisted me, and I was shocked , considering that I got a 500 on my math SAT and have a 3.3 WEIGHTED G.P.A. However, I’m SORT of a legacy… My mom went to grad school there, and my dad did his medical residency there for several years. They wouldn’t have waitlisted me just to appease my parents, would they? I mean, my parents were only grad-school, not undergrad, and plus, they rejected other kids with stats much higher than myself… Do you think the only reason I got waitlisted was cuz of my parents? I don’t care if that is the case, I just simply don’t understand how I would have gotten waitlisted instead of rejected any other way. I mean, the kids on this board are AMAZING! Much more impressive than me, who wasted her entire high school career because I suffered from undiagnosed depression and cared about guys more than my classes.

Another thread about the waitlist makes me sad. :(

just feel proud about it
maybe the adcoms saw something in you that u dont!

Maybe they thought you were someone else.

Schools often waitlist legacies who would otherwise be rejected. But that’s not necessarily what happened to you.

Think there’s any chance I can get OFF the waitlist? G.W is nice, but kinda snobby… :(
