The Oscars 2025

I started watching late. But how sweet was that tribute Andrew Garfield made to Goldie Hawn.???

She looked amazing, by the way. At 79 years old, she rocked that gown.

The Bond tribute didn’t include the absolute best Bond song “The Spy Who Loved Me”!

Omg I have tears streaming down my face at that acceptance speech by the Spanish woman (sorry I am terrible at acting names!) :sob:

Edited: Zoe Saldana!

Halle Berry looked gorgeous. Ditto for Selena Gomez.

Not too impressed with Doja Cat performance, though her gown/figure was stunning. I wondered if maybe her ear piece wasn’t working. The other two ladies sounded wonderful.

The way her husband was looking at her with adoration.

A very busy toddler and her mom just stopped by, so our Oscar watch was interrupted. Back to watching now.

The Bond tribute was perplexing. I doubt that any of the three 20-somethings who performed are into Bond films (or have ever seen one). D informs me that the 3 singers have a single together coming out, so I guess a clever manager set up this tribute.

Not mad at the overall results! (For a change :joy:)

Anora was the best cinematic rollercoaster ride of the year. Lots of other worthy films, but I love that a unique voice and vision broke through. It’s a wild ride of a film, highly recommend.

I am not a fan of Conan, but he did a great job!

Wow. What a journey to their Oscars!

Was that the one who sang about Diamonds? If so, I agree. I mentioned at home that she was out of tune.

I never watched his show. But about 10 years ago he had a travel show we watched. We were literally laughing tears at certain segments. He was hilarious. He just did another fairly recent one that was horrendous. But that first was so good.

Edit. It was 2019 Conan Without Borders, the first segment was Cuba,

Yes, that was the song she sang.

I thought Halle Berry looked amazing. Such pretty dresses this year. I love Goldie, but she needs a new haircut, that was very unflattering.

It’s amazing how females in Hollywood are just genetically superior- they just don’t age!

I am not a fan of the trend of flesh colored dresses.
Zoe Saldana’s dress looks strange in photos, but in motion it was one of my favorites.
Miley Cyrus looked like someone other than Miley Cyrus.
I loved seeing Daryl Hannah.

Disappointed by the tribute portion regarding those in the film industry who died during the past year. The visual display was atrocious.

Overall, a very boring show, but–as promised–Hollywood learned to tone down the political preaching (which was an improvement in my opinion).

P.S. I did appreciate the awards for best short films. Hopefully, there will be a broadcaster who devotes a few hours to showing all of the nominated short films.

They left out Mitzi Gaynor from the Memorium tribute. South Pacific is a classic. Who decides these things to pass up someone so well known?

I feel like she’s had that haircut for many years. I think maybe to hide forehead wrinkles? She’s clearly had lots of work done, but still, for her age, her figure and general look is pretty darn fine.

I think what bothers me the most as a former plastic surgery OR nurse is the very common and odd belief that filling the lips to such an extreme is attractive. Not referring specifically to Goldie, but to women in general. It’s a mystery to me.
