The Phantom Professor--redux

A dear young (thirty-fivish) friend of mine was recently turned down for tenure amid internecine squabbling at a well known LAC, and is now beating the bush for another “adjunct” position. Which prompted me to look in on another former adjunct–The Phantom Professor–late of SMU–to see what she was up to.

Currently on her blog:
Decoding those letters of recommendation
Dumb…with honor
See me, hear me…[meet her at a 3/11 convention in Austin]
So you want to major in PR or journalism?
One girl’s experience at the campus health center

She still writes like a dream, and her fiftyish perspective on college, kids, academia, and other things fit in with CC perfectly. Check her out.

She even offers an on-line writing course!

I still find her claim to fame to be highly questionable. Her personality is as fake as her Prada bag and her ego as big as the obvious envy she displayed.

A snake who writes or speaks well is still a snake … just more vicious.

PS So, in addition to Peter Kirsanow and his role at the US Commission on Civil Rights, I now remember another item of disagreement. Who said all conservtaives were cut from the same cloth. :)

Don’t forget that I can still have someone pull your plug in the Matrix.

Typical Republican bullying! I quit and will join the other side. Idly and cluelessly yapping about changing the world might be pleasant after all.

And just because your Prada bag is real doesn’t mean you should look down on those who buy the less expensive replicas.

Is that what happened in Dallas?

Did the victims of the Phantom look down at the anonymous prof’s fake goods? I thought it was the professor who expressed both a contempt for the people who could afford the real thing and not-so-well disguised envy that forced her to scout the flea-markets to buy forged goods.

Sincerity, ethics, and compassion were sorely missing from the arsenal of this “teacher.”
