The Presumptuous Application Essay?

I am working on a supplemental essay - the question is, in short, “Describe what you expect your academic journey at Bowdoin to include.”

The question is phrased as though I am already in and headed for Bowdoin -so should I write the essay as though that is the case? Right now I am writing it from the “IF” perspective - and my essay is littered with the word “would.” " “I would [do this],” for example. Is this a bad choice? Should I use the word “will” instead, and write my essay with the conviction of an admitted student? It risks sounding presumptuous, but the writing might be more fluid.

You could use words, such as would, for your essay.

I had this same situation in the University of Southern California’s application.
