There is so much expertise here!!! It’s like the Express thread!

I heard that it’s very hard and pretty dangerous to evacuate a cruise ship. You are basically dealing with two boats jumping up and down and it would not be trivial to just lay a bridge between them. But maybe they ought to figure out a way to make this safe!

Woo hoo! Isn’t it great outsmarting a cat?!
Enjoy your extra 15 minutes of sleep!

EPTR,

Obviously your D is going to have to replace the missing side view mirrors right away. It’s a driving hazard and she will get a ticket. My only suggestion is that she find some other safer location where she can park her car. If she got a car alarm installed, it might go off if someone tries to steal the mirrors.

Right. She was on her way to her part time job before she noticed that they were missing. I told her to take care of it right away. The alarm idea is a good one but the car is a 1999 Altima. Don’t know how much i want to spend on this thing. Parking somewhere else isn’t an option.

Maybe she can booby trap the mirrors. :)

EPTR, as stupid as this sounds I have a friend that removed the mirrors off his car because he had 3 pairs stolen or broken in 6 months. Total cost of about $500. What he did was bought a pair door mount removealable towing mirrors (cost $100/pair). When gets to his apartment at night it takes him about 2 minutes to remove them, put them in the drunk then reverse that in the morning before he leaves. A bit of a pain but it does work.

^^^
Wow! I guess that’s an option as a last resort!

Why is it that you can read the website at the DMV and bring all of the information that they say you need and you still need another item. Every. Single. Time.

Because they like you and want to see more of you.

^^^ Of course. And the employees are always so happy that they want to spread their joy to everyone, therefore feeling the need to give you yet another excuse to search tirelessly through your files for birth certificates/insurance forms. It’s their idea of sheer amusement.

Why is there no milk chocolate chip ice cream?

I think I can top that. I got a parking ticket three years ago on a college campus while taking a class. I was parked in a faculty lot at 5:15. According to the school website you can park there after 4pm. I called the parking office and told them that the ticket was bogus. They made me print out the part of their own website that referred to this portion of the parking policy and mail it to them with the ticket. I never heard another word until yesterday when they sent me a summons to appeal it! OMG.

So I guess my question is…how stupid can a college campus parking department be?

Ok another question. I do not want this to turn into a political debate, I don’t have a bone to pick in this fight. If federal employees are on sequester and are working 4 day weeks, do congressmen have a reduction in wages? Does the president or members of the Supreme Court? Do their staff people? I really am curious.

Apparently, stealing side mirrors is a big problem. I did see on Youtube this product that supposedly stop that. Search Youtube for Side Mirror Guard. Maybe it could help.

Onward-

Would you want to carry the carseat on the plane and strap it to the plane seat so your grandson could sit/sleep comfortably on the plane? and gate check the stroller?

Deb922,

You are asking the wrong question. It’s not the matter of “do they?”, it’s matter of “why don’t they?”.

Don’t know the answer, but when furloughs were imposed on staff members in the California courts last year (or a couple of years ago), almost all judges in the state took a voluntary pay cut of an equivalent percentage in their salaries, which were set by statute and could not be reduced by a reduction in hours.

momsquad- i don’t know- but maybe ben and jerry’s take suggestions

A suggestion…since this thread is intended to shift from one topic to another and back again: try to quote the post that you are referring to ( to do that, copy the part of the post to be quoted, click on […quote] without the …, then paste the quote followed by
[/quote…]
Again without the …

Or refer to the poster and post number that you are replying to.

Thanks!

But that takes all the fun out of these kinds of juxtapositions:

It made me very happy to interpret this, in answer to the immediate preceding question, as: “No, but they’ve had to resort to some pretty unorthodox methods to keep their wages at the same level.”
