Maybe other drivers figure anyone who parks away from the crowds will be less likely to open doors too far or let carts bang into them. Like deciding who to sit next to on Southwest flights. Better safe than sorry? Minimizing risk?
My brother always said, park next to a better car. They’re less likely to back into you or other things that can damage both. Or if a theif comes around…
Of course, doesn’t explain why so close.
LOL!!! Today H and I drove to Office Depot. Huge parking lot and nearly empty. I chose a lane with not a single car on either side the length of the lot and not close to the door of the store. Yep. A car drove up and parked right next to me. Close. I moved. Guy driver saw me–what was he thinking?
H and I had just watched this happen to another car–parked in an area without a single car and a car drove up and parked so close that the passenger had to watch how she opened her door.
The good news is that H finally believes me–that this a weird human behavior.
Idle thought tonight while watching tv - is it just me who thinks Mike Quigley looks like Patton Oswalt?
Agree that I assume a car will Park next to me, even if I am parked far away, because they figure at least one car on one side of them won’t bang into their door.
Separate question - how does Facebook keep turning on the annoying in-app clicks and how do I permanently disable it? I manually turn it off but it’s so annoying that it keeps happening. I am thinking it may happen if I use messenger but not sure.
In app clicks? What are those?
I run FB purity on my desktop and it is so much better to experience facebook that way, with no ads in the newsfeed, etc. I should take the app off my phone completely, I know it’s stalking me!
When using the app on a phone, it makes “clicks” when you select posts to read, etc. Really annoying!
Where can one go these days to try on like 30 different pairs of blue jeans to decide which ones fit best?? I’m in need of new jeans and I don’t want to first go to Banana Republic, then to the Gap, then to Ann Taylor, then to White House Black Market, then to . . . .
Do department stores still stock lots and lots of these? Or has that gone the way of malls?
@VeryHappy You won’t get different brands but Madewell offers a range of cuts and styles. So, not answering your question but adding on another store.
@VeryHappy are you near an outlet mall? Nordstrom rack, Saks off fifth usually has an assortment of brands. Most outlet malls also have a Banana Republic, j crew and Ann Taylor.
Those clicks may be in your basic settings. I’ve been trying diff things to get my notifications to work on my phone.
Are Buckle stores still in business? Those used to be go to places for denim.
Regular Nordstrom stores usually have lots of brands. Be prepared for $$$ though.
Their anniversary sale should be coming up. Maybe that would be a good time to check them out.
I love Nordstrom! Has anyone tried their tailoring service and if so, can you give me feedback on what it is like and how good it is?
Also, is it weird if I get a t-shirt tailored? I bought a college t-shirt but it is a little too long on the bottom so I would want it shortened. I wouldn’t tailor a normal t-shirt because I could always find another one that fits that is just as nice or nicer. However, the college that I bought my t-shirt from is my dream school so I consider it really special and would want it to fit me perfectly.
They do a good job. And yes, fix your new t-shirt. Also, most dry cleaners provide tailoring and clothing repairs. We use a men’s tailoring shop for simply everything.
@oregon101 Thank you. I think I’ll check with my dry cleaners first. There are so many things that I want to get tailored just to get the perfect. I’m not sure if this counts as a random question but since we’re speaking about clothes, how many clothes is too many to bring to a university? Did you bring too many clothes when you first went to college or have a son or daughter bring too many clothes? If you need an example of what I would want to bring, I was thinking of bringing around 20 Shirts and 15 Jackets.
Lol, you may not have closet space. There was the time D1 and her bff returned fro a semester away and where they landed on campus had one 30" portable closet for two gals. The freshman set up was just as bad: 4 girls one 48" wide closet.
If you go back for Thanksgiving or December break, you bring back some warmer weather things, take back others. When we visited, we could bring things or take some away.
My college is only an hour away from home so I can definitely switch clothes around between the seasons when I need to. I’m thinking of adding a dresser where I’m staying to give more space to store clothing. Although I’m close to home, I just don’t find it convenient to drive back and forth to replace old clothes with new ones. I’ll check how much space is in the closet and apartment first and then decide what I would need to do to make more space for clothes. For those who attended college or had kids that attended college, did people still dress up for Halloween and what costumes did they wear?
My DH likes short sleeved shirts and both DS’s and I think they are out of style, and its better to just roll up the sleeves of a long sleeved shirt. We aren’t talking about polo shirts, we are talking about button down, man-tailored shirts. Thoughts?
Short sleeved shirts, especially a retro/vintage vibe, are very much in.
