The Random Questions thread

Check the sizes. The California King is longer and more narrow.
Not sure what to do with the top sheets.
Could go with duvet on top only.

Oh then that won’t work, guess I have to live with untucked sheets. :frowning: My DH likes it that way so at least he is happy!

That’s what I do. And it makes making the bed a breeze.

San Francisco. Usually other regions will use an additional descriptor, e.g. the Tampa Bay area.

Unless one is in Europe, in which case The City and The Times is London.

To me, the Bay area is San Francisco. The City is New York, and more specifically Manhattan (I grew up in Queens)

To me the Bay Area is San Francisco. The city is San Francisco even though I live closer to LA. Granted I’m a born, raised and entire life resident of California.

I’ve only ever considered SF and environs The Bay Area. H has always have relatives living there. I’ve never really considered anywhere else The Bay Area. Perhaps the proximity to HI & so many people traveling to SF helps with that as well. I guess “The City” is NY, NY, but that’s not used nearly as often in the circles I run in.

@MoonKnight don’t use Listerine. It contains alcohol and is very drying. That can make your breath smell worse. I recommend Crest pro-health alcohol-free if you absolutely think you need a mouthwash. The best is none.

@creekland, I too think of SF as THE Bay Area, and I live within 30 minutes of the Chesapeake. I was born near SF though, so that may have something to do with it.

Is it a good reason to break up an otherwise good relationship if one person graduated and going to medical school in another state while other struggling to graduate with very bad GPA due to lack of effort and ambition? Are long distance relationships as difficult for young students as grown ups? What would be your advise to your kid? Should parents give their input or let them break up?

@dentmom4 I wanted breath mints to make my breath smell better but I was recommended to use a mouthwash instead.

Brush your teeth.

And your tongue. And make sure you don’t have any decay.

And floss multiple times a day. Also go to the doctor and ask to be tested for diseases that cause bad breath, such as Postnasal drip, respiratory and tonsil infections, sinus problems, diabetes, liver and kidney issues, as well as certain blood disorders that can all cause bad breath. In some rarer cases, bad breath could be a sign of cancer or other serious conditions like metabolic disorders.

Breath mints are, of course, a great way to mask the odor of bad breath. In fact, it is well known that in Medieval Times, particularly during the period of the Black Death, there were not only gravediggers calling out “Bring out your dead!”, but also there were some canny street vendors calling out “Tic Tacs, get your Tic Tacs! Even if your house smells of death, at least your breath can be fresh and minty!” True. Hopefully now some people will have all the information they need to make an informed decision about breath mints versus mouthwash.

One’s bad breath issues are TMI, for me. I’m sure you can google for advice or to find a site devoted to chatting about dental concerns.

@Riversider , advising (pro or con) regarding relationship breakups rarely ends well.

Thanks for all the helpful information everyone!

@riversider - I would stay out of that discussion as well. You are talking about young adults and that will need to make their own decision. My advice is to be supportive of whatever your child decides. You can listen and be supportive without offering your opinion.

My dentist told me NOT to brush my tongue - I guess the toothpaste isn’t good for it.

Must be one of those constantly changing guidelines, depending on who you ask. Wine is good. No, wine is bad. I’ve always been told to brush the tongue, and it appears to be a part of ADA guidelines:

^Ha, that’s funny. Can’t win.
