The Random Questions thread

Thanks for the input. For this instance it’s important to have high quality copies and a laser printer at home would be definite overkill. I think I’ll be going to a local printer and give them some business!

I do it at my local library.
I think it’s 5 or 10 cents for black and white, 25 cents for color. Depends on quality of the library’s printer.
Have done staples and kinkos in the past.

I like to do my Xmas newsletter on a color laser, as it typically has a full color background and lots of pictures. I won’t say where I usually print them ( ), but in the past I have gone to Office Max. We don’t have many choices locally. I just brought them a USB drive with a PDF. I can’t remember how much it was. Maybe $0.50/page. I only needed like 15-20 copies.

I rarely go to Walmart. A friend told me that’s where the best least expensive printing/copying is - in a little office center in the front of the store. No idea if all Walmarts have it, but I tried it for color copies and it beat staples by a lot in price and quality seemed to be as good. It was DIY, but there was an employee to help if necessary.

We don’t have a Staples. We do have a local copy shop that is a 20-30 minute drive from our home where schools and others who need to make a lot of copies patronize, which we have used (when local UPS stores aren’t running specials for copying).

New question: I am considering getting one of those handle thingies for my cell phone. Any words of wisdom?

Handle thingie? A selfie stick? Or a cover that has a little handle on the back?

Popsocket?

I use a Walli case and love it. I’ve had mine 3 years and no wear on it. Has a loop and a slot for cards

I’ll say that I prefer this over a popsocket because while I can thread this over my finger it also lays flat or isn’t bulky in a pocket.

We can print 100 copies per day (probably more, I’ve never been stopped) at our public libraries. And they you can fax them if you need to. No charge.

Wow are you sure about that? We have a fabulous library system but the limit is $1.50/day. And color copies are .50/each

Wow—never asked if our library could fax, but I’d doubt it.

New question. Maybe a rant.

I have had an Uber account for years. Until recently my rating was 4.98 and then after a trip to Chicago this summer it suddenly dropped to 4.90. I googled how to find my individual ratings and I see a few 2’s and even a 1 star rating!

WTH???

I am always at the pickup location on time, am clean and neat, greet the driver politely, wear my seatbelt, thank the driver at the end of the ride, etc. Needless to say , I have never been drunk or high in the Uber.

Anyone have any idea what could cause this?

Maybe some uber driver thinks 1 and 2 are the best ratings?? Unless someone is just very bitter that they have to drive for uber!

I hadn’t thought of those possibilities.

Also, I tip very well and always rate my rides a 5 star.

Its been a little bit since I’ve used Uber but thought they had to rate you before they knew what (if any) tip.

Well, 4.90 is hardly shabby. It reminds me of credit ratings: Mine varies a bit and I get notices from a credit card site that tracks the rating. I have abslutely NO idea why it varies. It’s just me doing the same thing month after month – paying all my bills, in full, on time.

According to my D, she has a 4.6 rating and that is considered terrible!

It would not have concerned me to get a few 4’s, but the 2’s and 1’s are concerning to me.

I do not keep track of our credit rating and honestly don’t care. I have never had any trouble getting any financing and we ALWAYS pay all our bills on time or early. We only financed our primary residence and my 1st car (which I paid off in full after only a fee payments).

I have no idea of our rating on Lyft or Uber (rarely ever catch the latter). t

The only reason I would suggest you might want to feel differently is because a dramatic change in your credit score could signify fraud - someone getting your information and applying all over the place for credit cards/loans/etc. If you’re confident your personal information is locked down enough not to worry about that - agree that it really doesn’t matter if you’re not taking lines of credit.
