The Random Questions thread

@Colorado_mom I figured it out:

in your Uber app go to Accounts/settings/privacy

You should see "would you like to see a summary of how you use Uber? Hit that and scroll down under "Browse your data"and you will see Ratings- view my ratings. It will show how many 5 star, 4 star etc.

Maybe you have an Uber driver who is incorrectly using the star system. I see that often in consumer reviews. Someone gives one star and then a glowing review of how great the product is.

I was thinking that same thing @gouf78. I only have a few 1’s and 2’s. ( I shouldn’t have any).

Since apparently you recently got a low rating is there any way the company can check to see who it was? Or if that driver consistently gives low ratings?

Random question as I’m watching the snow fall :sob: and dreaming of summer…

Does anyone have a recommendation for flip flops that are somewhat comfortable, that do NOT get slippery the moment a drop of water gets on the footbed? I looovveee Teva Olawahus and live in them during the summer, but sheesh-the minute my foot is even the slightest bit wet, it slips and slides. One of these days I’m going to wipe out.

Would love to find a new brand that would work!

The ONLY flipflops I can wear are Oofos. Highly recommend. I haven’t had any slip and slide issues with wet footbed or soles.

I like Sanuks. I used to loooove the Tevas with the “mush” footbed that would mold to the shape of your foot, but they stopped making them with the strap I can wear. Some of the other Teva straps are super uncomfortable for my foot.

The best for water is unfortunately the ones in the cheap bin.

So I want to watch the latest episodes of Call the Midwife on PBS. I connected my Roku device to PBS but when I click on one of the Midwife episdoes it tells me I need to contribute to PBS first. Is this true?? What’s the minimum? I’m so tired of being nickeled and dimed to watch stuff that used to just “be on TV”!!

$5/month. Especially since PBS no longer receives government support, I consider it to be a worthy investment.

@HImom is there a flooding problem where you live?

Our neighborhood is fine but other neighborhood experienced incredible flooding. Some lost their homes, vehicles and animals. It’s going to take a long time for the state to recover. Maui was big very hard, after already suffering so much.

What is the purpose of microwave oven going into “Loc” mode at end of timed cycle?

Staying at a Hilton Garden Inn, with raised microwave (lol, a little higher than shorty me would like). Was vexed for a moment last night before finding the Unlock button. Assumed I had accidentally put the door into lock mode. But no…. happens automatically.

Anyone have a grout friendly/pet friendly way to clean dirty floor grout? I tried a paste of hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and a little Dawn detergent, and it definitely made the grout cleaner, but not as clean as it gets when I’ve used Oxi-clean. In both cases I have to scrub with a brush. Other ways that work, for grout that doesn’t get cleaned as often as it should?

Some folks here in CC Cafe had success with using Pink Stuff. I have not tried it on grout so no personal experience. If you decide to use it, make sure to read the instructions as it can’t be used on certain types of surfaces!
