My husband said same. Just was suprised hotel would pick a child Loc model for this room configuration because the shelf is almost too high for adult me to use the microwave (or see the unlock button)

I’m sure someone staying there messed it up just for fun. The cleaning staff doesn’t check this kind of things like MW settings, safe batteries, etc. when they turn over a room. This reminded me when Mr. B drowned the alarm clock in the toilet in his hotel room… the dang thing went off at 2 am, likely set up as a prank, and he couldn’t figure out how to turn it off. And he is very gadget savvy!

Has anybody heard of (or done) endoscopic surgery for a herniated disc at t3/t4? A younger (40-ish) friend is researching it due to the quick procedure / recovery. If you have feedback, please PM me - thanks.

I’m attempting to add some fish to my diet. I HATE salmon and don’t care for tilapia. My husband also isn’t a big fish eater. I like halibut but want it not fishy. The fish market has fresh halibut but it’s $50 a lb! Has anyone tried frozen? Maybe from Costco or Trader Joe’s?

If you already don’t love fish, having frozen is going to be worse - chewy : (. What about trout? I don’t find that fishy and that’s usually affordable.

So I’m assuming you’re not a sushi eater?

Definitely not!
I had heard from a friend that flash frozen was as good as fresh. Maybe I’ll stick to fish oil pills and chicken.

You don’t know what you are missing! CA sushi is the best! What about flounder ? Or trout? Or mahi mahi? Or tuna?

I’ve never tried either of them. I’ll see what I can find at the fish market.
My son and son-in-laws are the only sushi eaters in my immediate family.
I like mahi mahi if it’s fresh. Not a fan of tuna.

What about scallops? Lobster? (they are not a fish but should have protein )

I know you said you hate salmon, but have you tasted it marinated in teriyaki sauce? My kids started loving it when we had it that way in Hawaii. Also, wild caught Pacific/Alaska salmon is very different than farm raised salmon. We also like trout with mustard or honey mustard sauce, and we like red snapper. I’m not as fond of tuna or mahi mahi, but will eat either.

Seafood allergies for husband. My thought is to stick to white fish. My son said he has a neighbor who sells fresh rockfish so will try that next time it’s available.

DH has always hated fish but has come to be OK with his own grilled salmon. However, he LOVES Chilean sea bass. He took one bite in a restaurant once and now orders it whenever it’s on the menu. It’s a bit expensive, but is mild, rich, and meaty. You can get it at Costco. Might be worth a try.

Has anyone tried sablefish(black cod)? It’s local caught so not super expensive. Also branzino, how is that on the fishier scale.
They also have local halibut that is cheaper than northern Pacific halibut.
A silly question but what do you eat the part with the red lines through the fish?
I’ll have to try sea bass next time I see it on the menu.

I’m the wrong person to ask because I adore anything that swims in the water ; ). But, I think cod and branzino are both mild. The problem with branzino though is it’s usually sold as whole fish so you need to have it cleaned and filleted unless you are comfortable doing it yourself.

I don’t know that I’ve seen red lines through fish. What species?

I’m sensing that branzino must offer good value because it seems to be offered frequently on special menus at varius nice restaurants.

The branzino is available whole or fillets.
Photo is halibut from fish market

It’s the bloodline, and usually that’s removed when filleting.

Just chiming in here – I don’t eat anything that lives (or lived) in the water. I eat a lot of chicken and red meat, and take fish oil twice a day. I wish I liked fish but I never have and, at 77, never will. I know I’m missing out on an entire food group, but I’ve tried numerous times, and it’s just not gonna happen.
