Go to our store or buy our stock?

Figured people who are going to check the dollar store for their items will probably go anyway

An indication of how cheap paper ads are in this brave new world.

quick question. We dont travel for business much if at all. My kid has an interview out of state and needs to take his suit on the plane. Does he put it in suit holder and take that on board? how else would you take a suit? i guess i dont see those often while i’m on a plane. . . . any other ideas? take a huge suitcase and check it? thanks

Is this going to be a long trip or 1-2 nights? If the latter, I would pack the essentials into a garment bag together with the suit and take it as a carryon. The last thing he wants is to arrive and not find his checked in bag on the baggage carousel!

I don’t think there are closets anymore for hanging bags. So overhead will involve some folding. Pack with that in mind.

This is an odd question. When D1 has overnight guests, even from the nearest city, she and bf give them their bed/bedroom. I’ve told her their comfy sofa is an acceptable offering. I’m not off track, am I? Their LR is a separate room, with a door and privacy. Her idea of hospitality means one of them is on the sofa and the other on the floor.

And that’s what garment bags are for.

Also, put the dry cleaners’ plastic bag over the suit before putting it in the garment bag. The plastic will cling to the wool and prevent it from wrinkling. At the hotel, take the suit out of the bag immediately. Hanging it in the bathroom when taking a shower will help to steam the wrinkles out. A hotel iron can be used as a steamer, too, but the trick is to keep the plate away from the fabric and not touch.

“When D1 has overnight guests, even from the nearest city, she and bf give them their bed/bedroom.”

Sounds like you’ve raised a courteous daughter who puts her guests’ comfort at the forefront. If that’s her style and what she feels comfortable with, I’d let her do what she feels is best.

Thanks, dos. I appreciate her thoughtfulness but needed a little parent perspective. These are individual guests, not couples.

If they are young people like herself who wouldn’t ruin their back sleeping on a couch then she and her bf are definitely more generous than I would have been at that age but, again, that is an admirable trait.

A good reason to get a self inflating mattress. I got DS a twin size for when I visit.

There are garment bags that roll, so your clothing inside should be less likely to wrinkle or have creases.

Back in my traveling days riding the circuit [9th] from Los Angeles to Seattle [long ago, thank goodness], I would lay the suit coat on the bed front down, fold the sleeves across the back, and fold in the middle. Pants folded in half went inside the coat before folding it in half. Package went in the middle of carry-on on top of folded shirts for the trip, with socks, underwear & Dopp kit on top. The one crease in the coat and pants vanished when they were hung up as soon as I got to my hotel and/or in the steam of the morning’s hot shower. Of course, I was a 36 short back then, and it might not work as well for a larger gent. I’ve heard that the rolling technique works well, but that was after my time. It kind of makes sense to me, however.

I think they hope to catch the eye of someone who will be motivated to drop by after seeing something they like, and who then my become a regular customer and buy more stuff.

@lookingforward It is very thoughtful of them, but if I were the guest I think I would insist on taking the sofa and not turning them out of their room. Doing so would make ME feel uncomfortable.

Love dollar store! As far as advertising I forget about them as I rarely go there. I have dishes and glasses that I use for company that were ( drum roll) $1 each .
They a great and I hunted for glasses I liked for a yr.

So what’s with my apple watch? On more than one occasion it tells me its time to stand up… when I am standing up!! Is it on a timer and tells me that every hour? I’ve not noticed that.

If it’s anything like my Fitbit, it may have a setting that reminds you to stand up or move every X minutes. My Fitbit often tells me to move when I’ve just been walking. My favorite is when it tells me to get up and move while I’m waiting in a store checkout line.
