The right way to address an envelope to a proffessor?

I know this is a really stupid question, but I have never written an envelope before so I have no clue.

Dr. John Smith
Department of Biological Sciences
Box 11111
Something University
City, State

How do I order this stuff/write it down on an envelope?

bump…this is a bit urgent.

bump…this is such a stupid question but I really need help! I looked online and couldn’t find any answers.

Here is the correct order:

Professor John Smith
Department of Biological Sciences
Something University
Box 11111
City, State, Zip

As noted above, you should make sure Dr. Smith definitely has the title “Dr.” You can check that on the website of the college. If not, he should be addressed as Professor John Smith. If you can’t find out, to be safe, use “Professor.” And don’t forget the zip code. Good luck!

Thank you SO much!!!
