Currently, I’m a sophomore at a school that’s definitely been hit hard by budget cuts.
For about 2700 students, there’s only two counselors, and honestly they’re not the most qualifed or knowledgeable.
I was hoping I could get some advice from you guys!
Freshman Year:
VARSITY GOLF
4.0 unweighted, all possible honors courses, and geometry
Golf took up so much of my time so I didn’t get involved in any clubs.

Sophomore Year:
I didn’t do golf this year because I didn’t have the time commitment for 2-9 daily practices. Since it’s a team sport, our individual skills didn’t matter too much and most of my team consisted of 120+ on a good day.
I’m taking Pre-Calc this year after taking Algebra 2 Online over the summer.
I’m taking Advanced English, but I missed one day of class due to an unmovable Endocrinology appointment (the treatment’s been going quite well!) and my teacher refused to let me make up the assignment and I ended up with my first “B”. I ended up with an unweighted 3.8 the first semester and my school doesn’t weight GPA.
I’m taking AP World this year, and I’m excelling so far, but we haven’t focused on essays too
much, so I’m slightly worried.
I participated in robotics this year, I may have a position of “leadership” but it’s undecided as of now. I also participated in Speech and Debate, but I didn’t do well at any tournament. Next year, I’m confident that I can do a lot better. I’m a member of the medical association at our school as well. I volunteer with children with mental and physical disabilites 3 hours a week too. I participated in math club as well!

I’m not going to do golf (through school) any more, but I’m going to pursue it on my own. Also, I plan to take two APs next year and my senior year (the maximum we can take).

NOWWWW…how would my (pipe) DREAM SCHOOL COLUMBIA SEE THIS?
I’m also interested in DUKE and UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO and UCLA!
any advice on how to be a more competitive canidate?
