Hi,
I’m a sophomore in high school and planning to apply to top-tier schools in the future. Therefore a high SAT is necessary.
Here’s the thing, I scored a 183 on the SAT this year (69 M, 57 for CR and W)
But I’ve been at this level for a couple of years, as I scored a 181 in 8th grade (my math was actually higher at that time)
The new SAT is really bothering me, as the new format will take place for my senior year :((
So the essential question is: Do I study for the new SAT, both SATs, or just plan for the ACT
Additionally, are there any recommended study books?
Thanks
If I was you I’d try the ACT. Then, if I did real well I wouldn’t take the new SAT. However, if I didn’t do so well I’d study for the new SAT when review material came out.
I agree with the first commenter. Try the ACT, then based off of that, you can decide whether or not to do the new SAT. Honestly, the new SAT looks super easy, and I wish I’d had the option of doing it.
Definitely try the ACT. Check out silverturtle’s guide for the plan that a lot of people on CC have used. PSAT -> SAT scores can grow a lot, but you have to prepare the right now. Just letting school happen will allow your scores to grow, but not by the leaps and bounds that focused effort can provide.
I’d shy away from the new SAT, especially if it’s your senior year. There’s just lots of variability there.
Thanks for the advice @SONNY0001 @ypmagic @hsstudent2015 @An0maly
I think the ACT may be the best option, especially since I’m pretty solid with science
