The Roloff Boys

RSBuletz - I remember that episode vividly where Matt told Jeremy that he thought Wharton would be a good school for Jeremy to go to. D1 was going through the admissions process at the time and UPenn was her first choice (she didn’t get in). I remember thinking how totally uninformed Matt was. The absurdity of Jeremy attending UPenn had me picking my chin up off the floor. There is no reality in that reality show!

Perhaps Jeremy and Levi Johnston can audition together. Between them they don’t have the personality of ONE "regular"l kid.

Maybe I’m not living in the real world either, but I have seen a LOT of young adults in the last few years that reminded me of the Roloff boys. My kids are 20 and 24, and, thankfully, more in tune with what life requires (both school and work), but some of their (mostly former) friends certainly are not. They are willing to live at home and working when the mood strikes them. Is it the parenting? Perhaps. However, I’ve seen the same result from helicopter parents and from the parents who never give their kids a passing thought.

Not all kids are the best and brightest, and not all can go to the best schools. Community college is a good choice for these kids to get a second chance at growing up. For those that do, great. For those that do not, I’m not sure what happens. I’m still waiting to see where my kids’ friends are in ten years.

You guys are pretty harsh. Obviously the show would not be the same if the twins left the household. I’m sure that was taken into consideration in their decision. Also, I visited the Roloff pumpkin patch farm a little over a year ago, and I was impressed to see both Zach and Jeremy working there. Zach was giving tractor rides and Jeremy was greeting people at the western town built on the farm. He was really personable and polite. I was impressed with how friendly and welcoming he was. I know my son would hate to greet and speak with visitors all day. Those boys are making different choices than many of our kids, but cut them some slack. I will admit that I haven’t seen the show for a couple of years, so I know nothing about the boys SAT testing or college decision process.

Well on the last statement, neither were very impressive to say the least. The boys, especially Zach, were rude and bored during their college visits. Yes they are active during pumpkin season. Not bad to work one month for 11 months of leisure.

I watched the show for the first time in a long while. A promo for next week says that would be the final episode. It did not say “of this season” so maybe the Roloffs have run their course.

I think news of that would have gotten out. I think it’s still very popular. No way they or the Roloffs give up that goldmine. They have 4 kids to put through college. ;-)
