Apparently there has been a new punctuation symbol created to denote when a person is being sarcastic [Hitting the mark with sarcasm - thestar.com](<a href=“Breaking News - Headlines & Top Stories | The Star”>Breaking News - Headlines & Top Stories | The Star) Anyone planning to spend the $2 to download and use it?? While agreed, it is difficult to determine when a person is being sarcastic (most posters here use the  to indicate sarcasm), not sure this new punctuation mark/symbol will fit the bill. Anyone heard about or used this thingy?

This is the first I heard about it. It would be kind of neat to be the person who creates a new symbol. This begs the question…who created our other symbols?

Wow, @ $2/download, I guess they’ll be able to retire if this takes off! I think sarcasm is risky with folks one doesn’t know well, with or without this new punctuation symbol.

I have to admit that writing without emoticons has become increasingly difficult for me! It definitely requires me to change gears.

If I’m going to be sarcastic, I don’t think this is the way I would express it.

I’ll stick to what my friends and I have been using for years.

After whatever sarcastic comment we make, we just type “/sarcasm” if we don’t think the recipient of the text/IM/whatever won’t get it.

Ha Ha. Yeah, I’m gonna waste $2 on that thing.

I think my sarcasm tends to come through well enough without me needing special punctuation for it.
