Ok i see. thank you for the link.
But, will the old prep books at least help a LITTLE? I mean, I just bought the blue book and the black book from amazon and it came in today. Will doing these books help at all? Or are they now a waste of time?

We don’t know exactly how the new SAT will be. I think you can see some questions that are released in CB website. Maybe those books would help you or Maybe they wouldn’t help you. The best thing right now is to wait for the book which TCB will release soon.
Also, this new “Ivy Global” SAT prep book is NOT administered by the college board.
Considering the fact that the new SAT has NOT BEEN RELEASED yet, AND IS SUBJECT TO BE CHANGED PENDING FURTHER RESEARCH ON THE BEHALF OF THE COLLEGE BOARD, where exactly does this “Ivy Global” prep book get its information and legitimacy???
Due to these reasons I am a bit skeptical as to how much this “Ivy Global” book will help me.
@Jr12317 Yeah I see your point
In what year are you going to apply to schools? @Rigid123
You’re overreacting. The revised test has a few differences (esp. the essay), but mostly it’s the same stuff, same skills. Prepping for the current material will help you.
The Ivy Global book is so-so. They made a good effort to mimic the new test (given the limited info they had available at the time–we know much more now), but the book suffers from padding and vague, generic test advice.
@Jr12317 I am a freshman in HS right now so i will be a senior in 2018
@FutureDoctor2018 Yeah i guess i will have to wait for the college board to release their prep book. Everything else that isn’t administered by the college board is pretty much worthless
@marvin100 Thank you for the advice, that’s what i expected from Ivy Global
Besides the memorization of obscure vocab and essay alteration i guess it’s pretty much the same. I’m at least glad that now i don’t have to memorize 2000 vocab words that i will never use in my life.
I suggest you focus more on the things you can control than what you can’t. And by that I mean you need to focus on those B’s and not on the SAT redesign. By the time you actually need to start SAT prep, there will be a new book out. And if you don’t like the new SAT then take the ACT. As a freshman I think you actually get a benefit on other classes. Schools will likely be more accepting of the ACT if the new SAT produces muddled or flawed results.
Take the ACT. I did much better on that test rather than the SAT. But that is just me.
@TheAtlantic Yeah, about my B, good point.
@Belizeme It depends on what the new SAT is going to look like. It might be better than the ACT, or worse. We’ll have to wait and see.
@Rigid123. You will have plenty of time to study for the new SAT.
@Jr12317 You mean one year, since the college board prep book will be released around june this summer. Not too sure if that is “plenty of time” or not, but since the college board is getting rid of obscure vocabulary memorization, it’s probably enough time
You should relax cause this may actually work in your favor XD
People have prepared for the SAT in 3 or 4 months. Stop being so pessimistic.
@TheAtlantic Yeah i realize that the new test will most likely be beneficial and time-saving for most students, but I am just concerned about how much time I have to prep.
@Jr12317 I’m aiming for 2400. 3 or 4 months probably wont be able to do this
Then aim for a 36 on the ACT instead. Problem solved.
The new SAT will be scored 1600. Do you know how many people get 2400?
I said it isn’t impossible to get 2400 but IVY leagues right now look for SAT scores 2250+.
@Jr12317 alright. but the higher the score the better. i need to make up for my poor grades
Yes, Just try your best. You won’t regret doing so.@rigid123 best of luck.
