<p>I have heard that if someone applies at a University to a specific school that does not have a high requirement standard they can be accepted and then after a semester transfer to a different school in that University that is actually harder to get into. They can transfer in without any problems.</p>

<p>An example would be someone applying to SMU for their arts program and switches majors after being accepted to the Business program.</p>

<p>Sometimes. If you makes a convincing case why you belong in the other school.</p>

<p>i think it’s more realistic with private schools than top public schools.</p>

<p>Often this doesn’t work, and many admissions offices have already recognised this loophole. Thus they usually try to have equivalent admission rates across all their schools.</p>

<p>People try this at Penn by going into the College, then trying to switch to Wharton. It has become very difficult to do this anymore and is not recommended.</p>
