The small communties within UCSD

You need to tell me a strong description of each Small Community within UCSD.

Marshall, ELR, Muir, Warren, 6th…etc
whats the biggest difference and the type of people at each SC.
I heard that Warren is filled with geeks etc, and ELR beautiful people.
What about the rest?

I’m a first year in Revelle right now. In general, the people in Revelle are pretty weird and awkward.

=[…bumer…i will be in revelle next year…awkward and wierd people scares me…

OH HELL NAH! WARREN IS NOT FILLED WITH GEEKS!

Hahahaaa, I’m in Warren, and I have heard that stereotype. This is UCSD; there are "geeks"at all the colleges, not just Warren! To some extent, I do agree with that stereotype though. Warren is the unofficial college for engineers, so maybe that’s why it attracts so many… geeky… people. =p But hey! I LOVE Warren College! We’re at the waaay east part of campus, so it’s definitely an effort to go to other parts of campus (thank goodness for the shuttles). However, a lot of the discussions are at Warren Lecture Hall, so the walk isn’t that bad. The dorms and apartments feels like a completely different part of campus, because I mean, you have to cross Voigt Dr. to go to the housing complexes. Because of this, Warren feels like an even tighter, more friendly community compared to the other colleges. I live in the res halls, and I think they are one of the best. In fact, I think they are second best (behind ERC’s, of course). There are three res halls: Frankfurter, Stewart, and Harlan. Each hall has their own “stereotype,” and it varies every year, depending on the type of people in the hall. Harlan can’t seem to escape the “weed hall” stereotype because everyone smokes weed in the canyon below ahahaha. The halls have suites, about 4-5 on each floor. Each suite is comprised of usually four single rooms and two triple rooms. Double rooms are rare in Warren, but there are some suites that have them. Each suite shares a bathroom, which has two bathroom stalls, two showers, and three sinks. They also have a living room. Each floor has a study lounge, trash room, and laundry room. If you’re lucky, you might get a balcony with a view of the canyon (which is a plus, because you’re less likely to get caught doing “bad” stuff hahaha). If you’re ever bored, go outside onto Warren Lawn and play some ultimate frisbee! or football! or soccer! or volleyball on the sand courts! or basketball at the courts behind Stewart! There’s always something to do around the res halls, and if people see other people playing, they’ll most likely join if they’re down to play. Before you know it, a bunch of people will be playing with you. :smiley: A few lounges have pool tables and stuff. Also, SAC is a good place to go if you’re bored. They have a piano, ping pong table, foosball, pool table, and movies to rent. If you’re hungry, go to Earl’s or Canyon Vista (called CV). Earl’s is Warren’s market, and imo, it’s one of the best markets on campus. It closes at 1am, and around midnight, you’ll see everyone there getting some midnight snacks and whatnot. Earl’s is also like a cafe, so you can order really good drinks like stuff you would get an Starbucks! and the employees are really chill, too. CV is Warren’s dining hall, and hah, that place sucks. You WILL get tired of it and will end up going to the other college’s dining halls. I got tired of CV really fast, but then again, I think everyone hates their own college’s dining hall because apparently people from Muir and Marshall loooove CV, hahah. It’s weird. CV does have its good meals every now and then, though. If you wanna study, each floor has a study lounge. You can also study at the JK Wood Lounge by Earl’s or at the Courtroom, the 24 hour study lounge by SAC. If not, Geisel Library is just a short walk away. Warren’s student council is really good as well! They put on a lot of events for its residents. The RAs of your floor also put on events for their residents, so there’s always something to do every week. Another good organization for Warren is COWS! The spirit committee! Imo, Warren is HELLA spirit, all thanks to these guys! They’re the reason we won Spirit Night this year! WOOOO! Besides that, there are many other orgs to join for Warren.

I hope that gives you potential Warren people a better insight on the Warren campus! Hit me up if you guys have any questions. :)

Wow, is revelle really full of weird people? i think this might affect my decision to attend UCSD

@orange! I’m so excited for Warren now. It seems amazing and really spirited. Also, the general education is extremely lenient, which I like. You’ll most definitely be seeing me there next year.

Lol i think orangeicecream just convinced me to come to UCSD

Honestly it’s pretty ridiculous to categorize an entire college of people as awkward. Yes, there are probably a few awkward people in Revelle. But that goes for any college in UCSD, and any university in general. My friends who attend Davis, UCLA, Cal, Stanford and a large array of other schools all have had experiences with awkward people. I am a biology major so I take several classes with Revelle students. As a result, I have gotten to know quite a few of them well and for the most part they are normal people.

@lovecolleges If you search this site you can find several descriptions of life at all six colleges. However, if you have any specific questions about Muir college I would be happy to help.

@gswhoops

Well that’s just my opinion. Take it with a grain of salt. If you can, you should come check it out for yourself. :)

@orangeicecream

Your posts are epic. Ha ha. I agree with you, and I’m probably the only person from Warren who actually likes CV.

@gswhoops

Revelle is NOT full of weird people. And even if it was, it’s not like you’re never allowed the leave the res halls and meet other people.

shiii orangeicecream i think u should either apply to be an OL, a RA, or be on student council!

^ I think I might apply to be an OL in my third or fourth year! We’ll see though, HA.

@orangeicecream
I was soo terrified about going to Warren because I also heard they were mostly engineer majors; and I’m a Bio major, so I was worried whether I would fit in or not!
I heard it’s mostly guys–and I’m a girl :frowning:
Are the dorms Co-ed?

OFFICIALLY EXCITED ABOUT ATTENDING UCSD! :slight_smile:
YAY FOR ADMIT DAY ON APRIL 9! :D

So which one is the best?

@Yell0w

Because engineering majors definitely don’t get along with other majors. I honestly don’t think Warren is mostly engineering majors, I just think it has the most compared to other colleges. There are tons of bio majors at Warren too, just like every college. And it’s definitely not mostly guys, I don’t know where you heard that from, or why anybody who knows anything about Warren would think that.

All dorms and suites are single sex, but the floors are co-ed.

to certain people above: i honestly think if you wouldn’t attend a particular college because you hear the people are weird then maybbbee you should get a reality check and expand your horizons. you’re going to meet weird people wherever you go. i’m in revelle right now and honestly I would not have it any other way. a lot of the people there are pretty bomb and have amazing personalities, JUST like any other college.
