How strong is Harvard’s Sociology Department? How tough are the classes as well as its program offerings? What are the pros and cons about the Dept. from the students who has enrolled in the program, either as major or just taking a class for fun? Thanks!!!

Doesn’t anyone know about this program offhand at Harvard? And I am not talking about the website. Just those who have know someone who is a Sociology major at the school.

No one here is a Sociology major?

On the whole, Harvard’s sociology department is one of the best in the country; Princeton’s is probably slightly stronger, but Harvard’s program is very extensive and offers an extensive range of courses. I recommend you check out the courses of instruction list to get an idea for the department’s focus.

There are probably only 4 or so undergraduates that regularly post here, and a few others who post occasionally.

Redline, have you been wondering about this for over five years? If you’re a senior, since eighth grade? There must be other ways to find out the information… ;)

Hi EastGrad,
When I created this thread, I thought a few of the students who are attending Harvard might have enrolled in a few Sociology related classes. I guess I was wrong. I am sure I could find the information on the program at Harvard’s website. But I felt that someone who has a first hand experience would be invaluable knowledge.
