Opinions from current/former students?
From those who decided against it? Alternatives they chose?
On the surface, it seems one of these degrees designed to create one genius per decade, and a lot of food stamp recipients but I may be very wrong.
Background: I’m a father of a talented kid, currently a HS sophomore, very much into writing and recording own music but also creating innovative soundscapes. The kid seems academically ready for good colleges as well (languages, humanities) so we’re casting the net very wide at this stage.
We live just a few miles from SAIC and will certainly visit but of course, many things are not so clearly visible to an outsider.
P.S. I realize this could be classified under Music Schools as well, however, I went with the institution rather than the department, hoping to have a better chance here at getting replies.
